Cant stop panicking

As of the past few weeks i've been unable to control the constant fear and panicking. Constantly getting chest tightness and have trouble breathing. I've had multiple tests done on my heart and lungs but they all came back with nothing unusual. I've also been on/tried about 10 different antidepressants over a few years and they all seem to stop doing anything after a while. Going to see my shrink in a few weeks hopefully. I'm just not sure what they're gonna do and if anyone has some suggestions or ideas as ive tried everything I can think of and nothing works, i wish i was the person i was in my late teens that had no worries and could sleep great.
Thanks

Hi Jarred28,
I'm so sorry to hear that you have been going through that. Being in constant fear and panicking sounds so hard. Can you think of the time that this started or if there was a specific trigger? For myself when something unusual happens to my body, I think 'oh that's weird' and then I will hyper focus on it which then makes me more anxious about it. For myself if I magnify my thoughts on something I can become more stressed about it.
I'm really glad to hear that you are going to see your psychologist soon. They may teach you some coping mechanisms or techniques to practice and may try to find out the root cause of these feelings.
I'm definitely here for you! You are not alone!

Hi Jarred28,
I'm struggling with the same thing myself. I can relate to the dizziness as you've described. This week has been bad for me. Sleep has not been restful.
Sorry to hear that your treatment/antidepressants have not been working. I'm having a hard time finding some suitable treatment for myself too.

Hi Jarred28
Great to have you as part of the Beyond Blue family. I understand your symptoms and yes they can be horrible to experience. Ive been on SSRI's for a while yet meds are never a fix all...They do make an excellent foundation on which we can heal using frequent counselling....
Anyhow....I hope you can have a look at this huge Beyond Blue thread written by Annabay and members/posters about their own physical symptoms...my symptoms are there too
www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/anxiety/what-physical-feelings-of-anxiety-do-you-get
Just from my own experience Jarred28...If our symptoms begin to have a negative effect on our ability to function on daily basis....the sooner we have frequent counselling, the quicker we will have some peace of mind and recovery from these awful symptoms
any questions are always welcome Jarred28
Paul

Hi Jarred28!
I completely know how you feel. It can be a very difficult cycle to be in!
I hope that your psychiatrist can help you as well, do you know when your next appointment with them will be?
Here for you!

I think we all know it all too well. I spent a week in the cardiac unit and all the tests...
I've found ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) was very helpful as a start, if you want to do you own reading/ research, or talk to your therapist about this approach. Starting CBT therapy now that I'm on board that ACT approach.
Hope your doing ok mate, my experience is it does get better, and less frequent.
Jon

Hi JonA,
I completely agree. I think that ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) is a great therapy. Some of the techniques like 'leaves on a stream' and 'sushi train' are very relaxing and can help me 'let go' of stressful thoughts. The great thing is that there are a lot of great youtube videos on it too!
I hope you are feeling better Jarred28, please reach out to us whenever you would like to!
