Battling nervous system

I am at the start of recovery. Yesterday I thought about ending my life. I texted my wife and informed her that I would be taking myself to the hospital. She took me instead. I had new meds prescribed. But I need to wait for previous ones to wear off. Anxiety and thoughts crash into me. Feel it in my mind and body, like drug withdrawal? I know my family are supportive but I have always been the supporter. I am grateful for people in my life helping me. I am so tired now trying to stay awake so I don’t wake up a 4am when everyone is asleep and I’m alone.

Thinking of you. That sounds very distressing. Good that you called your wife to help you. Are you seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist? I hope you have some mental health professional (as well as family) you can turn to for support at this difficult time. It sounds like you will need close support during this medication transition. Although it is so hard now, it will get better.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I’m really sorry that you’re unwell and struggling, but so glad that your wife took you to the hospital.

In case you need to hear this, it’s okay to ask for and receive support. And it’s okay to be unwell.

It’s really important to stay safe while you’re waiting for the new medication to take effect. Many people in similar situations choose to develop a suicide safety plan because these plans help to reduce the severity of suicidal feelings and help people cope with the feelings.

Do you have such a plan? If you don’t, you can discuss this with your usual mental health professional (assuming you have one) or please take a look at the LifeLine Suicide Safety Planning app.

You hang in there and please post any time.

Kind thoughts to you
