Maybe I'm an odd ball. But the current state of the world has me quietly pooping my pants. I won't lie this all started with Donald Trump being elected president. But ever since my whole outlook on life has just turned into one anxious mess.
No, I'm not putting the blame on Donald. I think possibly the media attention has just made me more aware of the going ons in the world. Russia/American relations, China/American relations, South China Sea, Russia/Nato, Syria, Ukraine, trade wars.
Its all just kind of overwhelmed me and to a point where it is controlling my life.
I realize no one can say with 100% certainty that war wont break out. But I know there are some extremely knowledgeable people on this forum, so just hearing your opinions might help.

I've started a new medication and have been feeling a bit better lately
but I'm still really struggling with the fear and overthinking/thinking
up scenarios. I'm trying my best to stay positive and think
logically/positively, but reading things like Eth mentioned just take me
straight back to the negative thoughts. I've been blocking out news related things, disabled the 'trending' tab on Facebook, don't watch the news, but somehow the bad things always seem to find me, people talk about things that set me off, or movies/shows on tv remind me of everything.
I've also been super concerned lately about other crises happening, like when the world runs out of fuel/power (oil, coal etc) and climate change related disasters, all that sort of stuff.
The more I read is going on in the world, the more scared I feel. I don't want war, I don't want my boyfriend to get drafted, I don't want to live in fear, I don't want to die. I wish I could just wake up one day and suddenly have world peace.
Why can't we all just get along...

The world is a scary place, but the key thing is, people want to survive. Nobody wants wars to start, and they work very hard to stop them from happening. We are all people marching towards the goal of peace. A whole host of political phenomena stop that from happening (and probably always will), but the longer we keep seeking peace, the more hope we can introduce to the world. The world is full of risks, but this has been the same throughout history. Actually, we're way better off that we have been in the past. Modern medicine is incredible and the number of wars is actually declining, regardless of what the sensationalist media would have you believe.
People are also very resilient. When we eventually run out of all (which has to happen at some point), there will be a huge push to find alternative solutions. There already is. You will be amazed at what people come up with! Technology is progressing faster than ever before. In some ways, running out of some natural resources will give science a kick up the behind and get it really moving on sustainable and environmentally friendly tech, which should keep us all secure for hundreds of years to come.
I know it can seem scary, but I have great faith in the ability of people to survive and adapt. The future is an unknown, but rest assured that the civilian population is working towards the same common goals 🙂

I know how you feel Bec.
I try my hardest not to read the news. But I just can't help myself. Sometimes I literally waste whole days reading different news articles.
I was just wondering how to got read of the news tab on Facebook? I can't figure it out.
Stay Strong!

I do the same thing Eth. I feel like I 'have to know' what's going on. But then the more I read, the more I find out is going on and the worse I feel.
There's a site called 'FB Purity'. You can use it to disable the trending tab on desktop (not mobile apps) among other things and it is safe to use. If only there was a way to do it on mobile, too.

There is nothing wrong with conscription, in fact I think it would be good to have it here. A year as a nashy (I think that's the term they used to call them back in the day) is really good for helping people become better citizens and teaches them self-discipline.
Just think how much better off everyone would be if all of our youth spent a year in national service. There are a lot of ways people can serve their country, not just the military, we should include it all (army, police, fire, SES, etc). In the long run, it would cost us much less than welfare and the dole.

Hello Bookgirl
I still do think the same even though I agree with you that there are some bad things happening and yes it is bad stuff.
These events are so far out of our control as individuals that its a matter of perspective.
We can let it effect our health, its just I choose to make every day the best day I can.
North Korea are still only flexing their over inflated opinion of themselves to the world. The major countries have a greater interest in the strength of their economy. Im happy that the United States are in South Korea keeping the peace.
Similar issues have occurred for decades and nothing has eventuated that can effect most of the global populous
I do understand you Bookgirl. It is unpleasant and awful. I just place my own peace of mind first
Thanks for posting too
my kind thoughts
Paul

I know how you feel Bookgirl. I've been doing really well lately, but I still get scared when I see the latest US/NK/Russia/China etc headlines, which there have been a lot of lately with the sanctions, the Chinese 'spy ship' in our waters, today's US-NK war threats.... It is scary and concerning. I've been doing well distracting myself and accepting that there's nothing I can do and just living life to the fullest, but it does get very hard when things keep escalating like this. But then again, it's very hard to tell if it's getting worse, or if the media just wants us to think it's getting worse. I keep telling myself not to worry about things that may not happen especially when I cannot do anything about them, and just worry about it when or if it happens.
Have been meaning to check back for any updates here. Hope we all are well 🙂
