Hello everyone,
I know this is a strange problem to share but I hope that people can share their opinion on how you guys were able to cope with this issue. I am an Asian male in my mid-20s and currently planning my trip to Europe with the family. After reading advice on the internet about people getting mugged, scammed and pick pocketed at these places, I have become so stressed out and anxious about my upcoming trip that I am feeling like I will not be able to enjoy this trip as I may feel too paranoid and guarded.
Being an Asian, I also feel like we will be more vulnerable to these types of crimes. I am travelling with my parents who are inexperienced travelers and they will have to rely on me to guide them through the trip. I had past travelling experience to a lot of places but I have never encountered these type of risks before. I do have anxiety and have the tendency to exaggerate things and this issue is currently taking a toll on me.
I hope that everyone can share their opinion in regards to this matters.
Thank you 🙂

Hi Zinu,
I don't know if this will help or not, but a wise friend once said to me the following:
"Ninety seven percent of the things we fear, never come to pass."
She taught me to look at what IS, not 'what IF'. So yes, while there are risks and hazards in our every day life, many of them are highly likely to be UNlikely to happen, or even if they do, probably far more exaggerated in our minds that what would happen in real life.
I am a caucasian female, and I traveled to the USA a few years ago, completely on my own. Before I went I was quite terrified of being shot or kidnapped or something. And I did have a rather nerve-racking moment when riding the subway at nighttime while in New York city. There was a large african-american fellow whom I could see was concealing something in his guitar case ...... which turned out to be just a can of alcohol!!! He had come to talk to me (who knows why?!) and he must have seen the terrified look on my face. Anyway, after just a minute or so he explained to me that he was concealing a can of beer because it was illegal to drink in the subway! I tell you what, never had I been so glad to see someone drinking alcohol!!!
Just make sure you plan things out, and if something doesn't feel right, then don't do it. If it does, then do it with gusto and have a ball while you do!
Enjoy the trip. Maybe even let us know how it went when you get back!
And remember, it's all about what IS, not 'what if?'.
Hope that helps a little. 🙂
