Hey jellybelly, welcome to the forums and you have done a good thing coming here seeking advice.
Have you been diagnosed with anxiety and depression? The reason i ask is that a lot of people do not go to the GP and/or psych to seek out assistance.
The first thing I need to establish is have you done this?, as in go to the GP, if not, you need to do that ASAP.
In the meantime, download, "Smiling Mind" onto your phone. It is an app that guides you through mindfulness which is meditation. It is a learn practice so please do it and maintain doing it. It will give you some skills to help keep the anxiety at bay.
Do you exercise? Exercise is so critical to positive mental health. Get out for a run, a walk, a swim, a ride, do yoga or all of them!! Get the body moving. Really important.
Diet, what is it like? Like exercise, critical to positive mental health. Cut out as much sugar as you possibly can, lay off or at least reduce alcohol consumption and bad foods. I know it is difficult to eat as good as you can all the time but if you can greatly reduce the bad foods and introduce good foods, it will serve you well. Think of your body like a car engine, put the wrong or poor petrol into it and it doesn't run well, put good fuel in, it runs well.
Hope to hear back so we can narrow some things down to get you going again.
Mark.

Hi Jellybelly12
Welcome and good on you for having the courage to post!
Anxiety is a absolute pain. I used to have it for a long time and understand what you are going through. Its a debilitating horrible set of feelings
Firstly....Can you call your GP asap and if possible book a double appointment so your doc can treat you more effectively...If you have to get a single appt, no worries...grab it.
The GP's can really help you JB. It is crucial that you see yours...asap
I think you are amazing by posting. You dont have to go through this alone.
The tight breathing can be settled if you temporarily remove yourself from the situation and slow down your breathing. Very slow and steady breaths.
Anxiety can be treated and the awful feelings do decrease in intensity over time and seeing your doc...even once a week now would be a great proactive idea
If you get 'stuck' Beyond Blue also have qualified gentle people on the 24/7 Support Line 1300 22 4636.
you are not alone here. There are many gentle people on the forums that can be here for you even though its not an IM format.
please be gentle with yourself JB
Paul
