Anxiety sufferer needing help

Hi, I’ve been suffering from anxiety for over 10 years now. Various levels but on a day to day basis. I’ve been on medication for that period of time which allows me to do my day to day life. I am a mother of 2 young children and I want to do more then just survive the day. I’ve seen therapists and tried many therapies I just can’t get a handle on it. I’m hoping you can point me in the right direction so my family & I can get back to living our best life. This year I really have decided to try & get more of myself back. To be the best me for my family. Please help!

Good on you for wanting to have a go! I wish I had a simple answer for you (don't we all!) but I'm on the same journey. Have you had a browse of the forums? There are lots of ideas on things that work for other people. I'm not sure there's a "cure" as such, but many things can be helpful. Some of the things I'm currently trying are yoga (love it! - good for body AND mind), meditation (apps such as Smiling Mind), and journalling (getting my thoughts down on paper so I can work through them). I'd suggest having a go at things and seeing what works for you. All the best, Katy

Dear AmyLou84~

You sound as if life has handed you a very hard time. an anxiety condition - even with treatment - can be terribly hard to live with, plus being a mum of two young kids is often a full time occupation all by itself.

I realy do agree with everything Katyonthehamsterwheelhas said and recommend Smiling Mind myself. I use it to reduce everyday stress and also at times when my mind is locked in anxious thoghts (such as how this or that will end badly) at which time Smiling Mind will stop that thought train. It does take a little practice but realy works.

There is one other thing I've found most important, and that is - no matter how busy your life - you take time each day regularly to do something you enjoy, not only is it actually good for you but is something which you can look forward too all day.

I normally use books, though sometimes movies, and am taken right away from normal life to different worlds. Would you like to say what might do that for you?

I am in a similar situation to you. I am a mother of 2 and have been suffering for around the same amount of time.

some days are exhausting trying just to keep it all together.

i have found some relief in journaling, self help books, meditation and reading as much information as I can on anxiety. But in saying that I also feel like I need to keep at these things everyday.
