Anxiety and possibly depressed?

Hi,

First time posting here, just wanted to make sure what I'm going through is just a part of life and hopefully I won't need to see a therapist.

I've been graduated over a year now and I have still yet found any employment I am interested in. At the time I thought the degree I studied was something I am passionate about, but now I am drained and I am definitely not the same happy person I use to be.

I found myself stuck in a dead end job I hate, I love my colleagues but I really hate my position. I just want to move to a new place with only one or two people I care about. I don't want to see anyone I know or really talk to them. I don't know what I want to do with my life anymore.

I can't sleep properly, I've gained a lot of weight, I stress eat a lot, I need to have youtube playing a video on a device at all times (except at work)...

I don't have time to see a psychologist because my job doesn't allow time for that and I also can't find another job...it hurts me to see everyone moving forwards and I'm still where I am...

I just want to know all this will get better and it's normal, everyone goes through it and I don't need to see a specialist.

Hi

Welcome to BB. How about going to see a GP to be properly diagnosed. With time being a factor dont stress over seeing a theropist just yet. See a GP then take it from there.

I dont normally say this but it does spund like you are experiencing to some degree depression..you know what...its ok.

I was actually happy after i reached out and was diagnosed. It explained so much about my sleep, eating and mood swings

Hey Hairclip like your name its different 🌝

Hun I think Beths got a good point dont worry for now seeing a therapist that could if you need come later but good idea to chat to GP

I imagine it would have been pretty full on getting to the point of well done btw getting your degree so you might too be coming down from that & worrying about finding work you want, just wondering how long since you've had a holiday?

Time has a knack at changing things in our lives & I hope in near future something catches your interest but probs best to first be in a good MH zone which with the right help support & positive mindset is very achievable

All best darl anytime you want to talk we're here

Hi Bethie,

Thank you for your reply, I will see a GP first when I have time. I have seen a psychologist before but they didn't really help me much, how do you go about finding the right psychologist?

Hi demonblaster,

Thank you hahah, I am looking for new activities I can do to improve my situation. Due to my financial situation and time commitments, I can't see a GP straight away but I will get to that. Just searching for new exercise to do before heading to the GP...

Good on you darl sounding great that your being proactive, good mindset well done

Thank you demonblaster 🙂

hello Hairclip, I think in our last year at school we hope or wish that our marks are good enough to get into the career we had been planning for, and if this does happen then we expect to get into the job of lifetime.

At the moment you aren't happy with the job you are now in, so maybe book an appointment with a doctor during your lunch break, I know that's pretty tough, but it's a chance for them to maybe give you a diagnosis if one is needed.

If they think you don't need counselling then that's good, but I wouldn't dismiss the idea of talking to someone else at a later time.

Finding the right psychologist is always tricky, for example, there maybe one close to you but you like them or there maybe one a few miles away that you like, it's trial and error, but one thing you must realise is that you feel comfortable talking to them. Geoff.
