Anxiety and physical symptoms

Hi, I suffer from really bad anxiety and health anxiety. I want to know does anyone else suffer from chronic chest pain/pressure? I'm not sure what is causing it. It doesn't go away anymore. I've had lots of tests which don't show any cause. I also get really bad nausea that makes me bedridden for days. I get awfully fatigued too. Lots of other weird symptoms too.

Hi there,

Thank you for your bravery and openness in sharing here. We can hear how difficult things have been recently, but sharing this here is an amazing step to have taken.

Anxiety can be overwhelming and consuming at times. You have taken some good steps so far to try and get to the bottom of what is causing this, despite not having any answers so far. We would encourage you to keep updating your doctor where necessary. While some people can experience chest pressure with anxiety, if you are concerned for your chest pain we would encourage you to call 000 straight away. You can also reach out to Nurse on call on: 1300 60 60 24
Thank you again for your courage and strength in sharing your story. We are hopeful that our kind community will be here to offer their support and understanding.
Kind regards,

Hello,

I’m sorry to hear about the tough time you’re going through today. Thanks for your honesty. In my experience with anxiety, I have also felt chest pain and heart palpitations which I have been seeing my doctor for. It may be helpful to update your doctor on this issue to try to get to the bottom of it. Or perhaps getting a second opinion from another doctor may be helpful.

For the time being, I would recommend breathing techniques if you haven’t already tried it. I usually practice breathing in for 4 seconds, holding for 7 seconds, then releasing for 8. I find when you do that a few times it really calms you which is just what your body needs during periods of anxiety.

I hope you take the time today to do something for yourself, whatever that may be. Go for a walk, watch a movie, connect with someone you trust.

I hope your symptoms improve over time. Sending you love ❤️

Hello psychdiaries2,

Thank you for replying and your kind suggestions. I have had this uncomfortable sensation in my chest for about 4 or more years now, seeming to get worse, sometimes for very short periods it goes. I have no idea. I have been to so many doctors they think I'm a hypochondriac or it's all anxiety. I used to be at the doctors 2 to 3 times a week. I've been to emergency lots of times. I've had heaps of tests. I do suffer from some gastric issues but I don't believe they are causing this because it didn't show anything that bad. I get anxiety attacks and have a couple of big phobias. I was just wondering if it's a common anxiety symptom to have chest pain that is chronic like mine. I've had palpitations for years. I just don't know what to do anymore.
