ADHD

I’m a 31 female and I think I might have ADHD. It would make a lot of sense if I did as I seem to have most of the symptoms. Has anyone in this thread been diagnosed with it? How did you go about getting a diagnosis and do you have any coping strategies? Everyone keeps telling me it’s just severe anxiety but I think it’s more

Hi, welcome

Diagnosis, is essential.

I was incorrectly diagnosed with ADHD at 47yo in 2003. 6 years of taking various meds none of which worked.

In 2009 another psychiatrist told me it wasn't ADHD but bipolar. My mania of bipolar mimicked hypomania of ADHD. And other cross over symptoms.

I took the appropriate meds for bipolar and depression and an immediate positive outcome.

So, diagnosis by a professional should by found starting with your GP.

Hi Jessa,

Good luck with seeking diagnosis in a clinical setting. In the meantime while you are looking for everyday insight and strategies from others with ADHD youtube is a surprisingly good source, for example the channel called 'howtoADHD' https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-nPM1_kSZf91ZGkcgy_95Q . It is worth a look, and quite engaging too (I do not have ADHD but support another who does).
