I suffer from abandonment issues. It’s definitely caused by issues from my childhood. But I feel no matter how hard I try and work through them, they never go away? I do not understand. If I get left on read, IT WILL TRIGGER ME and I have had enough.

Hi, I could have written this post myself today and I want to reach out to let you know that you are not alone in feeling like this. I don't think mine abandonment issues have gone away either but I feel better managing it on some days. Today was a little harder. Is there anyone who you can reach out to chat about this? I wonder if identifying what your triggers and trying to communicate around them may help ? After all these years, I don't know if these past issues will ever 'go away' as such... though re-learning how to manage triggers and trying my best caring for myself, in spite of everything, is in some ways helping me on my journey. Getting out and doing something totally different would sometimes get me out of the negative cyclical thinking.

Hello and welcome. I am really sorry to hear about what you are experiencing.
Having abandonment issues especially from childhood can have a huge negative impact on your self-esteem, mental and physical health and can also result in long-lasting fears of rejection.
If you don't mind me asking and if you feel like talking, are you able to share more about what caused this for eg. was it abuse or neglect, unstable living situations or something else? (please don't feel the pressure, share it only if you feel like...)
Have you reached out to your GP or a professional who can provide you therapy treatment options?
I really hope you seek help and find healing soon, please keep hope alive even though you may find it difficult at the moment...
Take care
