Hey Dennis000, welcome to the forums and thank you for reaching out to us.

Why do you think you've suddenly got no confidence? Is there a negative influence or person in your life making you feel like this? Has something significant changed in your life recently? Unfortunately, mental illness does not discriminate, however it is extremely common for outside causes such as death in the family, negative relationships etc to trigger these feelings. Consider when you started feeling like this and what was happening in your life at the time. I also noticed you said you want to be happy like your friends - never ever compare your own feelings or life to someone else's; we all experience each day differently, and your definition of happiness could be completely different to theirs.

The best place to start is probably a visit to your local GP for a professional diagnosis and a referral to a psychologist. Talk therapy with a specialist is great, as they are trained to pick up negative thinking habits and pinpoint things that need to change.

I also recommend you have a read of the resources here on the website, because there is some fantastic information and tips.

Remember that negative thoughts are just reactions to fear, and anxiety thrives on avoidance.
