i recently found out my father has been underpaying child support by about 100-200 dollars (AUS)
i do not know how to feel about this fact, and with my father not being around/being a douchebag and that he told me he sent that money "because he felt like it" and that "if i ever do blah blah blah again he would stop sending my mum money and we would be in shambles"
then my mum (bless her soul) explained in a more enlightening way by explain that he HAD to send it and that he is underpaying. she told me not to worry but (spoilers) IM WORRIED.
idk if i should convince my mum to go to small claims but she says that my dad is a slippery lil bugger and will find a way to avoid the case.
just want some help

Hello Dear SilverSays,
A very warm and caring welcome to our forums,
I’m sorry that your dad isn’t paying your mum the correct amount for child support…
If the courts have set a certain amount of child support payments, he should be paying that to your mum…if not and your mum feels up to it, she can contact Child Support Services and talk to them about it….Trying to convince your mum to take your dad to court might cause her a lot of stress, if she wants to settle for what payments he’s paying her…that’s okay…if she wants to take him to court, that’s okay as well….Your mum I think, would know her options if she wants to peruse this any further….maybe it’s best to not pressure your beautiful mum, which as I said earlier might cause her a lot of stress…
My kindest thoughts Dear SilverSays..
Grandy..

Hello SilverSays, Grandy is right if he is not paying the correct amount which has been determined by the courts then then this can be addressed by Child Support Services or a lawyer that has handled this and costs expected to be paid by your father.
Legally he can't just stop paying any money, not until you are aged 18 and has to respect that he was part of having you as a son.
