I'm Feeling Lost. Is a Road Trip the Answer?

I am struck with no motivation and to many options to take in life. Not knowing where to go.

I'm feeling a little lost but have this urge to go for a road trip around Australia. But maybe add something positive to me losing the plot. Like I think I could have talks with Beyond Blue, promote them while I go on my mental break down around Australia.

Opinions Please.

Dear E_Urch~

Welcome to the Forum, it can be a good place to sort one's thoughts out. I must say traveling around the country has its appeal, I did it in years ago, met my future wife and settled down. Worked out very well.

As for talking with or about bb. There is a Speakers' Bureau (available via this website) which coordinates and regulates such activities. I'd suggest getting in touch with them and see what they say. You might also like to have a look at fundraising opportunities, again reachable vie the Get Involved menu on this website.

Leaving all that to one side for a moment, I'm not sure I understand your references to losing the plot or mental breakdown. If you are having problems we are here to listen and to help, so please talk more, now you've opened the door so to speak.

Hi E, welcome

I agree with my friend Criox, any problems join in if you feel ready.

18 months ago I built our own small caravan with shower and toilet and off we went around oz towing it with a diesel Hyundai i30. In fact it only cost $1900 in fuel!!!

Anyway we free camped. You can buy a "free camps Australia " book for about $70 and its great. Wikicamps is an app too. We stayed once a week in a van park to do washing charge batteries etc. All good fun.

We did the "lap" in 13 weeks but we have a do so couldnt enter national parks.

Make sure your rig is comfortable.

hello E_Urch, great for you to join us, and for many people to pack up and travel around Australia is their ideal opportunity to clear their minds, get away from all the troubles and situations that surround them and then come back a different person.
For Croix and Tony this was their ideal choice and came back different people, for me it's not my cuppa tea, I don't like being away from home, I would probably get homesick and just want to return home.
This happens when I am away, even when I'm visiting my two little grand daughters who I dearly love, as soon as I'm there I want to come home, but if you definitely want to travel then please do so, as you can see it's helped two of our members and can do the same for you. Geoff.

Hi E_Urch, a road trip is a great idea and that's awesome you want to support Beyond Blue. However, I've personally found trips work as a kind of 'pick me up' but in the long run, it's really important to take care of yourself and your mental health. Is there a reason you've been feeling unmotivated and like you have no other options? The trip sounds amazing, but don't forget to ask yourself these questions. Perhaps talking your feelings out in therapy or even seeing a life coach might help you with what you're going through.
