Hi. I'm new to this forum (or any forum for that matter) but I'm looking for some suggestions.

Going to school had been very hard for me for almost 3 years and seemed to be making my depression and anxiety worse. We tried all kinds of things but my GP suggested doing school online because nothing was working. I'm starting year 10 online soon and haven't been to actual school since. Being home has pros and cons - it has helped my depression a lot (not sure why

Hello Datie, I'm so sorry that your post has been missed and perhaps I can explain why, if the site is very busy then the posts move from page 1, then page 2 and so on, that's why people don't respond.

I just wanted to know whether you are still checking whether or not someone has replied back to you.

If you are still there please don't feel as though no one wants to help you, we want to help each other in every possible way.

Doing year 10 online and at home will make you feel better and there will be pro's and con's, but if for some reason you have been bullied at school, then this is going to be why you don't want to go to school.

I hope you can reply back.

Geoff.

Hi Datie

Geoff's response has pushed your post up so we can see you again!

Are you still there? Did you want some ideas on keeping connections with other people while you are doing school online? Posting on safe, moderated forums such as this one is a great start.

Do you have any hobbies or other things you like to do? I know depression can mess with this, but I'm wondering if you are interested in sport, or music, or books, or crafts, or something like that.

Hi Datie,

Welcome to the forums!

I agree with stormcloudz, do you have any hobbbies that you like doing, or want to start doing? I used to play a lot of guitar when I was a teen, spent many hours tinkering away in my bedroom when not studying... it helped me a lot.

Also perhaps sport? Team sport? I started playing soccer when I was at school and it was very intimidating at first because I didn’t know anyone on the team, but the physical activity was great for my state of mind, training and playing each week. I actually found that it helped me with my anxiety because it forced me to socialise with people, but in the back of my mind I knew I could drop it if it became too hard and it wouldn’t affect my life - the pressure was off, if you know what I mean? I still play now (many many years later) and have made some great friends over the years.

You will find great support and advice on these forums so please keep posting. We hope to hear from you again soon 😊

Datie hi welcome to beyond blue forums. One of tamy's suggestions rings true for me. In a different way though, it's learn the ukulele there is a hole community in many states. All playing ukulele getting together preforming having festivals just generally having fun with it. There is not a song that you can play with a guitar that cannot be played on a ukulele. Plus I think You can have more fun with a ukulele.
