Great work young'uns

Gotta say as a bloke of 44 yrs of age how good it is to see that the most threads and posts on the forum is by the younger generation. That is brilliant to see. Mental health stigma has been around for so long and with the next generation taking so much interest in it, it can only result in the stigma being smashed.

Although I don't like seeing our younger generation struggling, it is mightily pleasing to see so many posting and helping others.

Great stuff y'all.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your positive post! 🙂

I'm 23, so I'm technically still considered young - for a few more years!

With all the work Beyondblue and other mental health orgs are doing, plus school/education programs and general public talk, we are greatly improving awareness and understanding.

I look forward to seeing more of you on the forum 🙂

Best wishes,

Zeal

hi Mark, as I'm an oldy I would very much want to agree with you, because when I was young, sounds like centuries ago, but there was little support and the topic of depression was considered as taboo, but with our younger generation forming a solid base now then this topic would is now on the table for discussion.
They all provide a valuable service to us all. Geoff,

Hi Mark;

It's sort of bitter-sweet eh? Wonderful to see the courage of young one's, but sad to know our future oldies are doing it tough.

Mental health was a taboo subject and full of conjecture and gossip when I grew up. It wasn't until dire events happened that people asked questions. No-one had answers of course; there was no info out there.

This site is amazing! So are it's members..especially the young'uns..

Aw...thanks for the encouraging words, Mark.

I think knowledge and education is power. I agree with Zeal that BB, other mental health organisations, schools, unis, etc have all played a part in trying to tackle the stigma and raise awareness.
