Heya pink veil,

Glad you're here, you've got support all around you now. It can be as scary as hell just having either depression or anxiety but both is a lot to manage - so it's awesome you've got some support. We're here to help as well.

I'm sure your Dr and Pharmacist explained the medication to you and what to expect. If not, give either of them a call and they will help. Ph number of the pharmacy MUST (by law) be on the medication packaging itself.

If things get crazy there's always the Beyond Blue help line (numbers at top and bottom of the page) give them a call at any time. They are trained to help.

How do you feel about your Mum knowing and heading to the Doc and now Medication?

Oh also on the site there is information for people who we love that helps them understand anxiety and depression from our perspective and how to care for us. You can order printed versions of the info too. The info is at the bottom of the page "For me", "Friends and family"

There's some younger people who make a point of welcoming other younger people because they understand and have experienced this crap as well.

Stay in touch pink veil,

Paul

Hey pink veil, welcome to the forums and well done on reaching out to us.

It is great that your mum has taken immediate action; she obviously cares about you a lot. I hear of so many people whose parents or loved ones "don't believe in depression" or think "it's just an overreaction", so it is refreshing to read of a supportive parent.

How are you feeling on the medication? For me, I've had nothing but good reactions to it, and I've been taking the same one now for about 6 years. However, if you have any problems with it or experience any side effects, don't be afraid to tell your doctor, okay, because there is lots of other medication and treatment options for you.

I also advice you ask your school about what type of counselling your school offers, as well as special provisions.
