After 26 years of committed service, the recent show cause notice came as a profound shock, especially given the absence of any prior warnings. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to upholding the highest standards of network security, adapting to numerous changes in policies and technological advancements. The introduction of new rules has unexpectedly placed me in a challenging position where, despite my extensive experience and dedication, I find myself facing significant hurdles. Throughout this trying time, the unwavering support of my family has been my cornerstone, providing solace amidst the storm. As I navigate these turbulent waters, I remain committed to resolving this matter, drawing on both my professional acumen and the strength derived from those closest to me.

Hi Dnwo,
Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like you're going through a tough time. If I understand correctly, you're facing a workplace challenge where, after 26 years with the same company, you've unexpectedly received a warning for underperformance or misconduct? This sounds like a severe decision, but it often depends on the specific circumstances. If you feel comfortable sharing more details about your situation, we're here to listen and offer our perspectives to support you.
Warmly,
Mark

Mark,
yes essentially I was terminated for in their opinion that I was at fault with the new security principles being applied by an external security assessment company, the have been large changes in the work force but mainly the 4 leads of the Dept are new hires and what was in place in there opinion was bad and there were several projects that were completely restructured and re commenced as they did not understand my previous manager’s intentions and they did not ask the remaining staff, I am the 3rd person terminated in a similar way, speaking with my Union they feel that the severity of their action was extreme considering the information I supplied to them, hope that explained a little bit

Hi Dnwo,
Thank you for sharing the background information. From an HR perspective, the decision does seem harsh, especially given your 26 years of service. Even if there were mistakes, it would typically be more appropriate for the company to issue a verbal or written warning rather than proceed directly to summary dismissal (depends on particular circumstance). If your termination occurred within the last 21 days, you may be eligible to claim unfair dismissal, and I would recommend seeking legal advice.
In the meantime, please take care of your mental health. Use this time to take a break, spend time with family, and slowly plan your next steps. With your extensive experience and expertise, I believe you are well-positioned to excel in your field.
Warmly,
Mark
