So after struggling for a few years I think I've finally figured out that I have anxiety. I'm a stay a home mum to 3 under 6. Since having kids I've found that I've lost myself. I've gained 30kgs from subsequent pregnancies and I think that's a big part of it. I can't find anything that is comfortable and looks good. and I spend most of my days at home because I keep thinking of all the bad things that could happen if we go to the park, shops, beach etc. I freak out about germs, snakes, drowning, dogs. I also find that I'm showering so often because I hate feeling sweaty or dirty, I need that fresh just showered smell with clean minty teeth it's odd. I can't be hot, I hate it. I can't tie my hair up because it's too uncomfortable I snap alot because I get so stressed I yell more than I'd like. Anyway that's what my day consists of. I'm happy but struggling

Hi makeslotsofcakes!!
Although I can't exactly relate to you being female or having pregnancies, I like to think I have a good idea (well basic idea really) about mental health, having seen it and suffering from it myself the past 6 months.
I think it's great you've come on here and reached out for support just as I have, everyone on here is great and so welcoming and supportive and willing to listen, and encourage, and help you in recovery of your mental health 😊
I'm sorry to hear about your anxiety, having kids I have seen takes so much time and energy and effort out of a person, let alone having 3 kids under 6.
Weight gain is never something we like to get, but happens to most of us from time to time, but I strongly believe the mental aspect of weight gain (such as negative thoughts) are much worse that the physical weight gain itself.
Have you talked to your partner or a psychologist about these feelings of anxiety and fears you are having? I know you mentioned it had been a few years of struggling, but it seems you've still caught and noticed this in its early and manageable stages, so it can be a lot easier to treat and manage..something I wish I did earlier
Anyway I can relate to a lot of your anxiety, having it quite a bit myself (but mostly depression) , germs, snakes, drowning, and dogs , are all logical fears because they are things that can harm us or make us sick...so I don't blame you..terrified of snakes myself!
I think it's more trying to put it into perspective and manage the fear, if it's something thats interfering with your daily life.
Irritability is just a part of anxiety and depression I'm afraid, though there are ways to control it I'm sure,I am on my own journey of finding how to control this, but I find just being friendlier to myself and other people around me helps a bit
Anyway hopefully this helped you in some way, just keep on reaching out for help and try to see a counsellor if you can..I know they're a tad expensive, and you may not feel like it's helping when you are there, but I think it does help talking about things to someone 😊
Stay safe 😊

Hi Makeslotsofcakes91
Thanks for reaching out- hearing your story, it's apparent that you are motivated to change things up for the better, and reaching out can be a great important step towards that process. It seems you are super self-awareness of what has led you here too. I wonder what supports or networks you have around in your real life? Have you told them how you feel-can they help? We can help you make the most of these in-person supports as well as help you navigate further help if needed too. Feel free to keep chatting 🙂
