Newbie looking for like minded people to chat with

Hi, so long story short I have battled hard with depression, anxiety and panic attacks for as long as I can remember. I have been on various antidepressants for around 13 years, I am now feeling like I am strong enough to ditch the medication that I feel is making me feel worse and begin to fight this demon head on with a clear mind not blocked by the medication.

Yesterday I saw my doctor and I have started to wean off medication.

To say I’m scared of what I will face is an understatement, but I’m ready, dedicated and determined!

Is anyone else starting the same journey? Would love to chat!

Thanks for your time 😊

Hi, welcome

I'm happy for you. Medication isn't the end all of treatment however, in that relaxation exercises and other factors like job, environment etc play an ongoing role.

Its all listed in the following thread. Just google it and read the first post.

Beyondblue topic anxiety, how I eliminated it

I wish you best of luck. Repost anytime. There is also a thread here created by our good community champion Blondeguy called

Do you like yourself

Search for that and chat away. It is a very good thread. Or repost your progress in this thread.

Hey Lonzenger,

Welcome to the forums and thank you for being here! You will find these forums as a super loving, caring and non-judgmental place where everyone is here to support each other in any way possible!

Sorry to hear that you have struggled for a while but I can tell that your battles have had some positive effects on your life. You possess some amazing qualities including bravery, strength, resilience and a strong will!

From my own personal experience a prolonged and sustained period of medication in combination with therapy and consistently seeing relevant health professionals is the best form of treatment/recovery. I know that you feel as if the medication is making you worse but I would discuss possibly trying every other medication available before you wean off the medication completely.

There are many other users who are and have been on a very similar journey as the one you have been on. Please feel free to post at anytime and also read others posts who have been through similar situations to you.

Look forward to seeing you around and hearing back from you.

All the best,

Nick.
