Hello,

I am new to the online forums. The coronavirus made me want to volunteer and help where I can. I have had mental health issues in the past but I am in a good place now. I would appreciate any advice people have on how I can best help people :).

Cheers

Hi ddogmillionaire,

Welcome to the forums and thank you for being here. It's so awesome that you've joined to help out.

One way that you might be able to help people is to have a look at other posts from members and jump in and offer your support. Given that you are in a good place now I bet that you can resonate with a lot of what members are going through and share what's helped you.

Starting conversations can also really help - even if it's not always about mental health - like movies, books, games or cooking.

Alternatively - we also have Blue Voices for people who want to help but aren't as interested in the forums - https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-involved/bluevoices

Hope this gives you some ideas! I'm sure if you poke around the forums you can find a place to start. Thanks again for being here and offering some support to members.

Hello ddogmillionaire

I join Romantic Thief in welcoming you to the forums. It is fantastic that you want to use your hard-earned knowledge to help others. Read some of the posts. People are often drawn to certain types of threads such as Staying Well, Depression, Relationships and Family Issues. You do not need to confine yourself to any type of thread if you are happy to respond to anyone.

At the moment there is a lot of concern about the coronavirus and the enforced stay at home. We do need the company of others so those like me who live alone can get lonely at times. I have lots of hobbies and find in many ways being made to stay home has been good. I have found it has made me rest more than usual and that has also been great. I fit into the older person category plus having an underlying medical condition so I may be more vulnerable. Lots of folk in the same position.

Wherever you feel comfortable is great.

Mary

Thanks Mary and Romantic Thief! I will make a start by looking around the forums and finding a place I can contribute.

Cheers
