Hi everybody, I am an older woman seeking ideas about dealing with severe depression that has recurred countless times in my life. I had a brainwave this morning that keeping in touch with others on this site would be beneficial to me. I hope also that I may be able to give some support from my experiences.
I look forward to discussing topics on the forums as well and reading your comments. In friendship M.

Hi Mogsy
Welcome and thankyou for being a part of the forum family too!
You are spot on when you mentioned about feeling the benefit being on here with others. There are many gentle people that can be here for us.
I understand your pain re depression as it can be a dark place to be in for sure...I joined 3 years ago after years of dark phases and Beyond Blue has brought some peace back into my life 🙂
Just out of respect for you....I have been on AD's for 23 years (SSRI's) and still see the same GP every 4 weeks for a 'fine tune'
If you see a member (poster) that you feel you may able to provide support to.....that would be great!
Any questions are welcome Mogsy. I really hope you can stick around the forums
my kind thoughts
Paul

Hi Mogsy,
i did the very same thing after a traumatic experience that occurred late last year. I’ve been on here reading and gaining insight on way to cope with my feelings. This community and members (like Paul above ☝🏼) are kind, mon judgemental and have been a wonderful source of strength and inspiration (coupled with professional help).
I took the step after a very bad and life changing episode and it has helped me tremendously. I commend you too for taking the step and I would love to hear your thoughts and insights as well.
I love a chat and happy to listen.
Take care

Hi Mogsy, I'm so pleased that Paul has responded to you and made you feel comfortable like he always does to people on this site, and if I can welcome you as well Happygolucky.
I'm sorry that you have had depression countless times, it's an awful and such an insidious illness that can reoccur to some people even though they are being treated.
Some people are able to get on with their life while taking the medication prescribed by their doctor or maybe their psychiatrist, while others find it rather tough, but none of this is anybody's fault because we never know when it comes knocking on our door, maybe there are times we do know what's going to happen but necessarily can't stop it, that's the power of this atrocity.
Anyone who has experienced depression of any kind has a story to tell and each and everyone has a definite meaning to it, it will not only affect someone's emotions, it will be able to relate to many others.
Both your input would be fantastic and look forward to hearing back from the two of you, although I see Happygolucky has quite a few posts.
Best wishes.
Geoff.

Hi Mogsy
I haven't been here (bb forums) long either and find the support so helpful.
For me it's more about anxiety than depression. I've dealt with it on and off for many years but haven't been able to really get on top of it the last couple of years (after several stressful events in a short period of time) and am so over it!
onwards eh....

Hello Mogsy,
I am also an older woman and only joined the forums a few days ago. I have found reading other peoples posts beneficial as a way of getting other view points & coping strategies. Also the people here are so kind, caring & they "get it" which really helps. I'm still finding my way here, but can definitely say I'm so glad I found this place & I hope you will be to.
Best wishes

Hi Annie, Paw Prints and Mogsy, and please in no particular order, and thanks for posting your comments, but a couple of you have posted some lovely comments which we appreciate so much and thank you so much, but I hope that we can hear back you because there have been some comments from you that do worry us.
I know that one or two of you have already posted or commented on other threads and please excuse me if I have missed any other comments, but it would be lovely to hear back from you.
My Best.
Geoff.

Hi Geoff
I’m sorry to have worried you. I’ve just been going through a prolonged period of increased stress/anxiety but working on it. I started a thread in the Anxiety forum a little while back called Can’t relax - I probably should have started one in here?
