Hi Jànie and welcome to the forums.

It sounds like a rough start to the year for you. But that doesn't mean you're good for nothing. It just means you're having a hard time right now.

Have you looked into options available locally so you can go to the doctor? If you have a chronic medical condition that needs management and you leave it all that happens is you get an unmanaged illness on top of a body already run down feeling low.

So what options are there locally?could you phone the doctor and ask what others do in that situation? Are there family or friends who can take you even to every 3rd appointment? Fewer visits are better than none at all.

As to your kids what age group are they? Is it possible for them to invite friends over instead? Or to ask a friend to pick them up. Parents are human too. We're far from perfect. And we don't just exist to serve our kids. Next time they whinge maybe try saying yep I stuffed up. I'm human. You can complain and get nowhere or you can put your mind to organising your own transport.

Losing your licence is a painful and inconvenient lesson to learn. But it doesn't make you an outlet for your kids frustrations. Please take care of yourself. At the bottom of the screen are the helpline contacts. Please do use them if you are feeling very low.

And if it helps you writeas often as you like.

hello Janie, a warm welcome to you and for posting your comment.

I am sorry that you have lost your license, unfortunately, the same happened to me, so I know it prevents you from taking the kids where they want to go, and this is going to upset you, but please don't take any risks by driving the punishment and fine will be worse.

When ever a new year begins the first thing we say is that 'we hope this year will be better', that's a positive thought, but as you've lost your license doesn't mean the rest of the year won't be good.

I'm sorry that your condition is not good, however ask your doctor if they can do home visits, your pharmacy may deliver your medication and if you need to go to the hospital for tests or an appointment your doctor can arrange a car to pick you up and bring you home.

I would also apply for a 'taxi directorate' which entitles you half price fares, but people can only get one of these if your doctor believes you are entitled to one, and if so ring up the 'taxi services commission'.

Your kid's freedom hasn't been lost, they have friends they can go with to school or to any special event.

You have many other benefits so please never think otherwise.

Please let us know how you get on. Geoff.
