Hi my name is Soph,
im a young adult who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder 4 years ago.
i can still live a normal functional life. I have been on and off medication and believe that it is possible to learn your triggers and medicate accordingly.
i am still learning about my mental disorder and how to live with it. I have had highs and lows, I have experienced mania, depression, however I have never been suicidal.
i have lost a close friend to suicide and have had dealt with bipolar and depression within my immediate family.
I would love to be able to help people deal with grief, learning to live peacefully with their mental disorders and assist them with feeling like they are not alone or different but unique and able to achieve their dreams.
i have always loved people and talking so I hope being apart of the beyond blue community I can truly give something back to the people who need it.
thanks for listening

Hi, welcome
A very positive post, thankyou.
I have bipolar also along with dysthymia and depression. I had anxiety for many years but conquered that, thankfully.

Thanks TonyWK
very interesting thread.
I am glad you could conquer your anxiety.
Excuse me for being naive but what is dysthymia?
Happy to chat about ways to help males in my life as I feel like they struggle and are not as easy to open up as woman.
Thanks again

Hi Soph,
your post made me smile this afternoon. 😊
No doubt you've been through a lot and we all have our bad or harder days but it's inspiring to read your words and so lovely of you to want to give back and help others based on your own experiences with mental health.
I feel like it's something a lot of us who know what it's like to struggle with our mental health aim to do and do carry out.
I'm very new to this space myself (well i first created my account on here around this time last year!) but am only finally stepping into the experience now and I'm so glad i have.
The interactions i've see on here so far are so kind and supportive and it's really all we can hope for as we navigate our way through our struggles and just our overall journey in life.
