Im relieved, i did this. Just had "that moment" of realizing what's been bothering me. Depression!! I thought i was immune because i've been taking antidepressants for 8 years! They have gotten me through some tough times, and helped enormously, but i don't think , they r working anymore. Or have i changed? I don't know, i just know everything is an effort

Antidepressants (AD's) are what our doctor wants to prescribe us to help us with our depression, but after taking the same dose for a few years then their effect maybe wearing off, so as soon as you feel this is happening, then you should go back to your GP or psychiatrist and have them reviewed, but what you mustn't discard is the fact that your depression has come back from maybe another direction, not like what you had before.
You also can't discount that you maybe having a relapse, even still I would also make another appointment with any

Hi Love My Dog. It looks like its a doggy thread here, what with Geoff's little dog Moo Moo any my little dog Tammie. They look pretty similar too Geoff. Anyway welcome Lovemydog, and good on you for taking this step to reach out for some advise and support.
Yes AD's can become ineffective at times, especially after long term use. So it is quite likely that you need a change. I'm glad you have made the decision to make an appointment for Friday. Hopefully your GP will sort something out for you. There are many different options these days. I know change can be a bit disconcerting and often difficult, but it will be worth it in the end.
It would be great though it you could stick around and let us know how you are going though. Always nice to see new 'faces' around here. And there are some other helpful threads around too that you might be interested in, which gives some interaction with other members here. So that could benefit you, since you are feeling so low right now. A couple I can suggest to you are: The BB Cafe, which you will find in the "Social" section of the Forums. And perhaps since you 'love your dog', try checking out the Pet Thread which is located in the "Staying Well" section of the Forums. Some nice feel good stories there too which I'm sure you would enjoy reading. And please also contribute to any other threads that may strike a cord with you.
I hope to see you around some more.
Taurus xx

Good for you Lovemydog. Definitely there comes a time when we realise we need to look after #1 first. Its hard work always being the strong one, the reliable one, the one everyone can count on, the one everyone tells their troubles to ... sigh ... very exhausting. I hope you can have some fun on the Forums as well as the more serious stuff. I look forward to seeing you around the traps.
