My name is Al and I'm a 28 year old male.
I've had several diagnosis (Depression, anxiety, ADHD, Bipolar) but no particular medication or therapy has ever been helpful. All of my life I have been able to cope and lead a normal life, but the last few months I have been completely bed ridden. I have lost my job, I'm about to lose my license (other medical issues), and I'm scared I'm going to lose my relationship.
I'm can't keep any appointments with my GP or other help I've sought due to not being able to get out of bed, let alone the house. As great as my girlfriend is at understanding what I'm going through she doesn't know how to help, and I don't have any family or friends I can talk to or ask for help.
I've completely run out of ideas, and don't know where to go from here.
Al.

Hi Caveal, welcome
Sorry you're going through such a tough time. You are among fellow sufferers so we know somewhat how you feel.
You can get a doctor to visit you at home. If you can rise to visit the bathroom then a few more steps will get you in a car...can you do that?
I understand your struggles but other people cant be expected to take up the gap of their own responsibilities as well as yours. Its not fair. Eventually the stress gets too much and they fly away.
I have bipolar, depression, dysthymia and anxiety. Ive had a misdiagnosis of ADHD. I know you have to motivate yourself.
The following threads might help. Use google

Getting to a doctor is important or one gets to you.

HI Caveal and welcome to the forums. We are a peer based support forums and it should be noted that advice from dr or other professionals should be taken over a forum user.
Sorry to hear you are going through a rough patch. Even if you have had a good handle of your mental illness/s unfortunately sometimes it can flare up and really kick you while you are already down. I have had this happen to myself so I can really empathize with you. What I found helpful was asking my family, friend or housemate to make sure that I would go to appointments (I was still able to go because I wasn't completely bed ridden, but close to it). I have had a friend have to take me once before because I just couldn't get myself there. Is your girlfriend, or family member able to take you to your appointments? Someone understanding.
It can be hard getting a handle of your mental health again because you can already be in a vicious cycle. You can be really unwell and struggle to get out of bed, so you don't go to your appointments, you feel more down for not going so you get worse, then you miss another appointment and so on... But there are some options you maybe able to look into. Beyond blue have this new help system called NewAccess Coach. See link below. They can help you over the phone or in person, so it maybe helpful if you are having a really hard day not able to to make your appointment in person. There are also other online counselling services (using skype or phone) that you maybe able to use. I think the NewAccess Coach you can get some free, but I know with online therapy it isn't covered by medicare (however probably still cheaper than inperson all out of pocket). Have you also asked if your GP clinic have a dr that can do home visits? This may help you get support without having to go there in person.

I hope some of this has helped. Feel free to roam around the forums and contribute or just read through them. Hope to see you around
