Hi, my name is nathan.
I have been diagnosed with bipolar over the last month. I am looking for new ways to communicate with fellow people. I don't know anyone who has this.

Hi Nathan, welcome to Beyond Blue forums!
You'll find many people on here who have bipolar, so you're amongst friends and definitely not alone. It probably feels like it at the moment and that can be really tough to get through, but it's great here on the forums.
I'm glad you've reached out and found the BB community as one of the keys in managing an illness like bipolar is to approach it from multiple angles. I get the feeling you have seen a Dr and received the diagnosis from them. Hopefully you've chatted about treatments as well.
Maintaining contact here and joining in the forums can be a huge help as one of the extra ways to manage and stay healthy.
There's a hotline here you can call if you need to talk to someone urgently too, the numbers are at the top and bottom of the page.
How are you feeling about receiving the diagnosis? I can imagine it was confronting 😞
Take care Nathan, hope to hear from you soon.
Paul

It can definTely be hard to fond anyone that has or admits to having mental illness, specially bipolar. I have been reading on and off information on beyond blue but either didn't realise or forgot there is a forum, I'm really glad I found out and especially glad to see it includes bipolar topics.
It can be a great help in itself just to realise there definately are others with same or similar issues! Sometimes it really can be an isolating problem dealing with mental health issues etc, it's so hard to find a way to communicate with people that really CAN understand atleast somewhat how we feel...
Keep up with any suggestions your therapists/dr's suggest! Always remember to keep fighting and try to remember that there is usually always some time where the light at the end of tunnel is visible and you have some time with less or no negative symptoms (depending on severity etc of your particular symptoms)...
Sorry long message, I'm just so happy to have found the forum!
