I went through a hole several years ago, for the most my partner being bagged left me skinny with an eating disorder. While at the time I sought help with the disorder but still had it for sometime I did not with depression. When I picked myself up out of it no one wanted to sit down and talk about it and lots of get losts involved and was largely left to my own resources while in the hole.
This was a few years ago and I am better now and learnt it if possible tune out to them if they wont tune into you. I now see a psychiatrist regularly.
Wondering if anyone out there has experienced the same

Hi welcome
Are you still with that partner?
This forum is popular because people without a mental health issue cannot comprehend the problems and because they are not capable of helping us, they tune out. Think of it as an astronaut returning to earth when he describes at a party what space, the moon was like. How many would feel the experience? None really. Same with friends and family. So, I rarely mention my problems, moods, depression etc and come on here to ask others about my situation.
I also found that some "friends" arent capable of even showing interest. If that is the case especially if you are struggling then ask yourself if having them in your life is worth it. I'm now 66yo and have dropped off friends as they are too taxing on me mentally or have no empathy. It has resulted in many good caring friends, no taggers.
You see a psychiatrist which is commendable. This forum is open 24/7/365. I've even been on here xmas day!. That means its a stop gap measure for support and ideas on how to overcome problems or just a chat.
I hope you feel better. Here is 3 threads that might be beneficial. You only need to read the first post of each. Cheers

Hi JohnSam, welcome to the forums.
Sorry I don't know what you meant by "my partner being bagged". If you could define that, please, it could help me understand what that was?
I'm not sure if I've experienced "the same" but I definitely related to getting yourself out of the hole of depression.
It's quite cruel that people told you to get lost. Zero compassion there.
I'm not sure if I even recognised I was in depression. I shared some of what I was going through with friends but at the same time was pushed 24/7 looking after many of my own children and doing it on less than money, literally. I was too busy to dwell on anything tbh.
exH is kind of gone now. it tried to haunt us still but we have maintained strict No Contact etc.
Kudos to you having a Psychs support. Well done.
How are doing today?

Hi JohnSam,
Welcome to the forum.
Happy to hear that you're on the right track, keep seeing a psychiatrist is a very wise decision.
Additionally, you can consider accessing a peer support group, to chat with people with similar lived experience. You may get inspiration from each other. Some resources for example:

Effectively they called her too fat for sometime and really when I saw her it was just be me and her, no one really spoke of her positively when she was raised. I ended up with self image issues thinking I was too fat for someone people liked and ended up quite ill coming home from work at 3pm with indigestion after binge eating the night before a few times.
I now have someone similar and it works as people are more aware. I guess sometimes people need to be aware you need to leave people a support network as well.
