hey everyone,
As the first sentence by most on here is, I’m new to this, that’s exactly how mines going to start.
I’m new to this and haven’t posted before. I was just wondering if anyone has any advice for myself. Sometimes I can get really down and feel that no one likes me, I’m annoying to everyone and just useless really. this isn’t all the time mostly happens at night before going to bed or when in bed. By the morning I can think clearly and know this isn’t the case and isn’t true at all but at nights when feeling this way, I just can’t convince myself anything different. I hate getting upset over things like this and especially getting up the next morning feeling exhausted and with puffy eyes. I’m not sure what category I fit in so just thought I would put this out there to hear others opinions and get advice that could help me when in these situations. thank you in advance, I honestly appreciate it!

Hi, welcome
I font know why night time seems to cause our minds to wander. It could be our level of tiredness isnt apparent to us late evening or even the effect the moon has on us.
What we can do is exercise our ability to use distraction to stop our mind becoming idle then wandering. So, keep busy.
The other possibility is a mental disorder but we cant diagnose. I know this as I have one of my illnesses that causes me to be over emotional for no reason.
Professional opinion is needed

Hiya jamdonuts.
I do something really similar at night when I should be winding down. It's not about me so much, but my mind just spools up and fixates on negative thoughts and situations. Real and some just worst case scenarios.
My go to move is to deliberately day dream. I've thought of a completely fictional situation that I find interesting, but has absolutely no connection to the real world or my life. When I lie down I just try to pick up on where I left off previously and.. I guess it's like creating a story without writing it down. I'm a character in the story, and I take that character on adventures. I try to keep it light and fun, and it seems like taking my mind away from real life flips the get sleepy switch and all going well, I roll over and sleep.
Honestly I have no idea if it would work for other people. But I thought I'd share. Let me know if it does 🙂
I should probably go take my own advice at this point lol. G'nite.
Bill.

The 'Staying Well' section under 'Caring for myself and others' may be a place for you to start. In this section you can find members talking about how to cope with difficult thoughts and emotions as well as tips for getting a better sleep. Here are two threads that may be of interest to you. They are quite lengthy threads but feel free to jump in the conversation:
