Hi ElizabethDaily
Welcome and thankyou for posting with us!
I have had acute anxiety followed by depression for the last 36 years (under management) and understand you as I used to have a 'tight' chest/breathing for a long time.
You are proactive by having sought the medical help you deserve Elizabeth and good on you!
It difficult to help effectively without knowing what you are going through. If you wish to provide any extra detail we can provide better support for you:-)
Just a note re the Beyond Blue forums...They are a SAFE and judgement free place for you to post. Your privacy is paramount here. You will not be judged here...just supported the best we can.
I really hope you can post back Elizabeth
My kind thoughts
Paul

the full run down is that the anxiety has been hidden by depression and autism, the sphychiatrist picked up on the anxiety and have been placed on SSRI's wich i wish i had years ago for they have helped enormously with behavioural and mood issues.
once on the meds the anxiety was able to come to the surface as well as the side effects of esciotalipram. chest pain like heart attack was horrid in the first few weeks of medication. had a halter monitor, ultrasounds, eccocardiogram and all that and inspite a history of heart arythmia in the family nothing showed up.
as you can imagine being new to the full effects of anxiety and the full force of the heart pains from it, it can be quite distressing and uncomfortable and evan more so without the effective tools to manage it.
any help on managment of symptoms would be greatly apreciated.

Hi Elizabeth2
Thanks for posting back...Being new to anxiety is a seriously awful feeling...you are spot on. I remember the tight chest and the inability to take a deep breath...that used to scare me....big time. I am also on ssri's and they have helped me a lot with my physical symptoms of anxiety. It took me 13 years to get some regular counseling unfortunately yet it worked wonders as my anxiety was chronic and had difficulty leaving my home....ugh!
You are very proactive by seeing a specialist as well as having all the tests done too...many people are hesitant to do what you have and good on you 🙂
Can I ask if you have had regular counseling from a GP/counselor to help minimize the anxiety levels?
My kind thoughts
Paul
