I have been struggling with depression and obssesive compulsive disorder since two years ago... But not until this summer i decided to look for help. I started my  psychological and psychiatrist treatmeant  two months ago. I take for my first time an antidepressant, but it didnt work, then I changed to another, but it also didnt work. Now Im starting a new one, and i have noticed a litlle changes like im having more energy now, but the bad thing is that emotionally I still feel empty, sad and numb. My psychiatrist told me to be patient, but I cant. Can someone please tell me what is going on with me? Or can suggest me an effective treatment in orden to talk with my psychiatrist about it? Well thats all. Please dont leave me alone with this, and dont let me down! Thanks for your help! Bye!

Hi Juan it took 3 months for the antidepressant to kick in and make me feel better listen to your GP and Psych you need to give it time,.In the mean time make sure you are exercising going out keeping busy ect mix the alternate suggestions with your recovery .If ever in doubt go back to your gp and psych and just communicate how you feel you are on the road to recovery just be patient. Take care

Dear Juan9537

I'm glad you found this forum. Sometimes you need to try a few different anti-depressants before you find the right one for you.  But it does take time for them to kick in and work. It's good that you have found some changes and have more energy. Your psych is correct is saying you need to be patient.

I've been suffering depression for 3 yrs and it did take a few months before i started to feel slightly better.  But i still every now and then feel empty and emotional.  I wish there was a quick fix for depression but unfortunately i don't think so.

Keep staying with your psych, you will get there.Hope this helps you.

Take care

Jo
