Hi all,
A BB phone counselor gave me an option to see a free psychology service at a local university.
It is provided by supervised masters grad students.
Anyone here use this kind of therapy provided by students under supervision?
If so how did you find it?
As I cannot afford to pay for therapy I got no choice but to go to a psychologist that is free.

Hi MisterM,
You are fortunate to have been offered this service 🙂 University psychology services are carefully run, and I'm sure you will be in safe hands, especially as Beyondblue referred you. Masters students are almost fully qualified, and as they are supervised, you will be getting top-notch treatment. I haven't had treatment run by masters students, but a Masters (or Honours) student visited me regularly when I was in a mental health ward in a public hospital. The experiences I had were quite good. She was respectful, intelligent, and non-judgemental. Once I was out of hospital, I went to an outpatient mental health service. During my earlier sessions, a university psychology student sat in on my appointments. At first I was nervous about that, but after a while I didn't mind her being there.
As you know you are unable to fund therapy, then I strongly recommend you take this opportunity. Even if it's uncomfortable at the start, give it a chance. You will certainly gain something from the experience
Good luck with the psychology service 🙂
Best wishes,
SM
