Adjustment disorder?

I have been researching for so long the several episodes i have had over the past 4 years but nothing i can find describes it exactly, and it always happens when i have a few stressful situations at once, usually work social or training type things which i dread. So when i try to talk to my doctor she says its just stress and brushes me off. But each episode scares the absolute crap out of me, its awful. But im normal as soon as the stressful event is over. And today i read an article about Adjustment Disorder and its what happens to me down to a tee. I know now i need to see a professional to get help.. just wondering if anyone has any stories about this?

Dear TMW987~
Welcome here to the support forum where I'm sure you will find many that act adversely to stress.
I'm one of them, and while one can accept that problems will arise in everyone's life my own reactions are disproportionate and also I tend to anticipate the worst of all possible outcomes -which is rarely justified.
This also makes it very difficult to interact with my partner, not something she deserves, however my mind is too full of worry to be able to talk properly with her.
I guess you have already done the sensible thing and talked matters over with your GP, however if you find your pain and difficulties are being trivialized or just brushed off maybe it might be time to look for another or at least firmly request the services of a psychologist to help you overcome these periods.
Being scared so much by these is not something you need to have to suffer for ever, therapy and understanding make all the difference. My improvement never started wihtout competent medical help, quite the reverse.
Please come back and say what you think

Hi TMW987,
Thanks for your open and brave post.
I'm so sorry to hear how your health professional treated you.
Try and get a referral to a psychiatrist, they won't ignore your important circumstance.
Let us know how you go and good luck.
Regards,
D
