Hi, welcome
This is a common issue with members here.
Ok, well you have the right to take time to think. So, if you are asked a question or for an opinion you can say
"I'll think on that and let you know".
If they persist then you can reply
"I'm not here to live up to your expectations".
The problem with people with mental illness of any sort is that people cannot see the illness...unlike a broken leg for example. When I broke my leg I had friends ringing me often to see how I was coping. Now, as this is sooo common we really should accept that this is normal and that human reactions cannot include large doses of empathy. That means we have to adapt to them not them adapt to us if we are going to - not get bothered about it.
It also means seeking support from others like this forum where "birds of a feather flock together".
Having a mental illness can be a lonely life so pick your friends carefully and you dont have to have many friends, just good ones.
This might help

I hope that helps. Reply anytime

Hey Meownoodlescat, welcome.
You're not a let down, I'm sorry you have to have an assessment, I hope it goes well for you. If you mean Major Depressive Disorder by MDD, I have that too, aswell as PTSD, so I relate to that side of things. You're not lazy or rude either, but you're right, society is like that unfortunately. Best of luck.
