Hi Angel Joy

Welcome. Please don’t be embarrassed about being unsure about how to get started with your post. Everyone is different and approaches posting in their own way. There’s right or wrong and no judgment.

I am interested in whatever you might like to share! Do you want to start with why you are here?

Kind thoughts to you

Thanks. Well I have come here because I have depression and anxiety, and I wanted someone to help me. I didn't really know what to do so I came here.

I am feeling rather scared right now.

Hi angel-joy

Thanks for sharing that with us.
anxiety and depression make us feel really scared sometimes. This forum is a pretty safe place, and will be able to give tou some guidance.

have you seen a doctor at all to discuss how you’re feeling? If not, i would suggest this as your next step.

it can be hard to talk to a doctor about these things, but it makes a big difference. From there you can get access to other forms of help.

you’ve done a great thing by asking the forum what to do. Are there any things that you do to take care of yourself?

I agree with not_batman but if you’re nervous/anxious/scared angel_joy and decide to see your gp you can do what I did which is type up any symptoms/signs ect ect ect you’ve been experiencing to print out and hand straight to your gp. Your gp will ask if there’s any family history of mental illness/health in your family and how you’ve been feeling, how you’ve been going ect ect ect. Not to mention observing your reactions ect ect ect, you’ll be prescribed by your gp either a antidepressant or antipsychotic or both (but that depends on what your gp thinks you might have) and if your issues are more serious you might be referred to a psychiatrist first but if not a psychologist but the psychologist could also decide you might need to see a psychiatrist as well.

Hey Angel_Joy.

You've come to the right place, it's a very supportive, friendly, caring and non-judgemental place. It's like a safe haven I guess you could say. Everything is moderated for everybody's peace of mind. You're safe here.

I understand about feeling scared, but you're ok here, I promise. We're all here for you, we all understand.

If your not on any prescription medication to help and are worried about being on a prescription medication that will make you feel numb you can tell your gp you don’t want to be on one like that just like I did so you can discuss the options then that are still open to you. I also don’t believe in the ones that make you numb as I didn’t want to feel like a 🧟‍♀️ 😂 but that’s just my own personal opinion. I would also add to ask your gp for a list of psychologists/psychiatrists/both as it might take a few calls to get an appointment with one. I wish I had done that but I didn’t and the one my gp recommended she was not taking on new clients. So the psychologist I’m seeing she was not recommended to me by my gp as I found her myself but had to ask the receptionist at my gps rooms to pass on the psychologists details I found to get a referral to see her. Also all the mental health professionals have different wait times to get into to see them which I was lucky enough to get my first appointment for 3 weeks later. Also you won’t get a diagnosis straight away after your first appointment as it may take time and if the issues are a bit different a psychologist may want a second opinion from a psychiatrist. And finally with seeing a psychologist/psychiatrist you are in control on the topics/conversation but they all ask you some questions but in my experience mostly listening.
