The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Hello Null. I'm 'mmMekitty', sometimes known as 'LRC' or 'Little Red Cat', or 'MK', or 'Kitty', too... I really don't mind which you choose to call me - so long as it's not 'late for dinner'!
How are you today?
I'm a little down because my support worker sent me a txt to say they were too unwell to work today, so no going out for exercise group, lunch or gym workout. It's just been a long weekend, so I haven't had anyone to help me get out & do things since last Thursday. I am annoyed about relying on people so much, now & I won't have anyone until next Thursday...
I feel like today I am the LRC who is climbing the curtains - every set in this BB Cafe!
So, yeah.... how are you today?

Hey everyone! 🤗 New members are always welcome to post too!
Hello Grandy and thankyou so much for your kind Easter wishes. They mean so much.
We are fortunate to have such a wonderful multicultural mix of people in Australia. I know that Easter is and will continue to be respected as a tradition in this wonderful country that we all are proud of.
We can never forget about the children during Easter. The joy that children experience during Easter is beautiful to behold.
my kindness always
Paul...

Hey mmMekitty, Not too bad here and feeling a little worse than usual, but otherwise all good! And you shouldn't be annoyed for having to rely on people, I have family members and friends but I can't afford to tell them anything for some reason. Life is not bad honestly, just chilled out for a while during Easter since I had nowhere to go lol.

Hey Null, nice to have you here! I probably go by SB on here more often than not, so that's me.
Do you generally celebrate Easter? Do you have any traditions at all, or is it a fairly quiet time for you? 🙂

Hi BB Cafe friends and welcome Null,
Paul, you are so correct that Easter is more and more about bringing joy to children. My own Easter experiences as a child were wonderful. In Primary school we always had a visit from the Easter Bunny and were given chocolate eggs on the Thursday before the Good Friday holiday. We felt special that we got to enjoy chocolate eggs before everyone else.
We were not a religious family but my mother respected the Good Friday sabbath and that day we were not allowed to eat meat, eggs or dairy. Basically no animal products for that one day.
On the Saturday we would make coloured eggs with pretty patterns on them. I made these eggs with and for my own children. It’s a bit messy using egg dye but a lot of fun.
Easter Sunday was feast day just like Christmas only better with chocolate.
My children attended Catholic schools so the religious aspect was very important. I will never forget my 8 year old daughter coming home from school all upset because she told her Religious Ed teacher that she didn’t believe in the resurrection story. My daughter was adamant that it was impossible and it was just a fairy tale. The wisdom of enlightened children. I knew then that I had a wise child who questioned everything. I had a chat with her teacher about this and we thought it was best that we don’t try to force this belief on her.
In Australia we do still have at least Good Friday as a day where everything stops. I remember bakeries didn’t bake and I don’t remember newspapers being printed that day either. I do remember the mad rush on Thursdays before everything closed. My daughter lives in the USA and Good Friday isn’t a public holiday and my son in law tells me that Easter eggs and Easter Bunny were not a thing when he was younger but it’s fast growing in popularity but not as big as Xmas. I told him that you possibly wouldn’t have Xmas if whole Easter thing had never happened.
Anyway, that’s my take on it… have a wonderful week wherever you are. Fiatlux ✌️

Hello Everyone, Welcome Null.
I hope a happy Easter was enjoyed by all. I went camping with friends for the week and it was the best reset ever. Feeling totally like a happy sheep at the moment!
I'm interested in everyone's Easter traditions. I don't come from a religious family and Easter was never something we celebrated - except the chocolate eggs! I do come from a family that celebrates chocolate! But I heard of the most amazing Easter tradition this year. Apparently making an Easter cake in the shape of a lamb (for Jesus, the lamb of god) is a tradition. The weird thing is, I have one friend whose family have always done this, Google tells me it's a tradition originating in Germany that transferred to America - but neither my German nor American friends have ever heard of it! I'd be interested to know if anyone hear has ever heard of Easter lamb cake.

Hello everyone…..🤗..
Hopefully the internet tower that was causing so many issues in our village is fixed…Time will tell…
I love the excitement that both Easter and Christmas brings to little children who believe in the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus…The look on their faces when they wake and see the chocolate eggs, the sparkle in their eyes, the smiles and laughter, the magic they must feel in their hearts…knowing that magic exists and they are a part of that magic….
You’re so welcome Paul…💜🤗..
I’m so pleased, well I hope, that the hot humid sticky and icky heat of summer has left us for around at least 6 months…and we can soon enjoy snuggling up in our doonas and get a good nights sleep…without tossing and turning because we’re to hot…
I brought in some honey chicken, lots of it with boiled rice and prawn “money bags”….being the cafe that this is…they stay piping hot and fresh until you want some….that’s the amazing beauty of the BB cafes, “Magic”.
Wishing everyone a beautiful day today..
Hugs, love and care everyone…❤️🤗🦋.
Grandy..

Hello everyone.
I had a feeling the prawn 'money bags' were not things I could cash in, if I had wanted to, (tough choice for this kitty), so thanks, Grandy, for the explanation. I will be a very happy kitty getting to have prawn money bags & honey chicken in the one meal. 😹No conflict of interest here!
When I was young we used food colouring to colour the outer shells of boiled eggs. We sometimes used crayon on them before dipping them in the dye. What we'd written or drawn on them would not take the colour at all.
The eggs were hidden all around the place, indoors & out, for us kids to find.
& we made paper baskets, with strips of green paper in them, to carry our found eggs in.
I can't remember much chocolate eggs at Easter until after we had arrived in Australia.
& I did come from USA, but never heard of lamb cake. I'm sure I'd remember if we had that - I do remember images of the lamb, but more often associated with Xmas.
I also don't think I'd had hot cross buns when I was young, or even as an adult, when I was finally on my own. Over the last few years, I have very much enjoyed the chocolate chip hot cross buns, but I'd actually like them more without the cross, & if the buns were available all year round. I keep wondering why the crosses are not made of icing or chocolate. That would be so much better than whatever the crosses are made of now.
We also used to watch cartoon Easter movies. Although my family did not practice any religion, we'd watched religious movies as well as Easter bunny type cartoons. The cartoons were fine, & I watched them happily, but the movies - only by decree.
