The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Hi Everyone and Happy Tuesday,
HappySheep, I have had be fed by tube many years ago due to a severe throat injury so I understand what it’s like to start eating and swallowing again. My first meal was like baby food only tastier. I am sure your friends appreciated your efforts.
Today I actually had a hot cross bun with my coffee. My son brought a couple of packs of Iced Vovo flavoured ones. I had a go and it was ok, but I think I will stick to the traditional ones. These were actually pink even on the inside with white choc chips and raspberry jam and coconut through them. They are definitely on the sweet candy side.
mmMekitty, I hope you get your pc issue fixed and that you get to see us here at the BB Cafe. 🙏🏼

Hi Fiatlux, the soup was divine and he even managed some bread, which tasted fabulous but was a bit flat because it's been years since I made bread and the yeast was probably older than I am! 🤣
Your Hot Cross Bun sounds truly horrible - but you have to try everything once!
I hope you're all having a good day.

Happy Friday everyone,
Today I made a lovely Black Forest cake for my son’s birthday. It’s chilling in the fridge until he’s ready to cut it.
I went through my vegetable chiller this afternoon and decided to use up zucchini, mushrooms, parsnip, carrots, celery and 1 small onion to make up a nice sauce. I fine diced them and cooked them down and added a tin of tomatoes. I also added basil and the result is a delicious. HappySheep I was thinking of you while tasting this sauce. I will put half of it aside and add some mussels tomorrow but tonight I will toast some sour dough and top it with my bruschetta sauce and top with Parmesan. Vegetables have never tasted so good.
Have a lovely evening and a wonderful weekend. I have a lot of football to watch, NRL and A League. Fiatlux 🙏🏼

Happy Friday Good People!
Fiatlux, Sounds divine! I have dogs so the stuff at the bottom of the veggie crisper often gets cooked for them - your option sounds much better. The cake sounds amazing too. I'm not much of a cake baker so one day I'll ask you for tips.
I cooked 2 minute noodles again, even after buying all the ingredients for real food because that's all I could manage tonight. Nevermind, it was a semi-successful day!
Enjoy the football, whatever your persuasion, and have a fabulous weekend.

Hello Everyone!
I totally understand about the 2 minute noodles Happy Sheep. Numerous times I have done the grocery shopping so have food to make a meal only to resort to a microwave packet soup or sardines on toast. I think it’s just too much sometimes to do both in one day.
Fiatlux, enjoy the football tonight! I can see there is something on about Taronga Zoo. I love animals so I might watch it (hopefully nothing too sad happens as sometimes occurs on animal shows).
Have a lovely weekend everyone 🤗

Hi Patches63
I have bought weighted blankets (which are very expensive), but haven't tried a teddy bear. If you do decide to get a blanket confirm with the supplier that the weighted beans are sewn in pockets to keep the weight evenly distributed as the 1st blanket I got they all ended up down the end of the blanket & made it of no use at all. Also the second blanket I bought was a childs size one & that is quite big enough for sitting on the couch or just covering my top half in bed.

Patches63,
I hope you end up finding one! I've heard that weighted blankets are worthwhile, like Paw Prints has said, but I haven't heard of weighted teddy bears, I feel like they'd be a good idea too.
Similar concept (but without the weighted aspect), I've recently gotten into Squishmallows after a friend of mine bought me one for a Kris Kringle gift. They're really comforting to have with you at night because it's like having a teddy bear and a pillow combined, kind of like Pillow Pets (which were a huge thing when I was younger) but squishier. You can find them in Kmart I'm pretty sure, probably similar places like Big W too, and I reckon they're worth looking into.

Hello dear cafe friends,
We finally have some respite from the heat for a few days. So last night I made a large banana bread using up some over ripened bananas. It’s all gluten free and dairy free but contains eggs. I packed it full of walnuts for some crunch otherwise it very one dimensional.
Last night was a Thai holy basil and chilli stir fry night with coconut rice. Nothing too complicated as it still gets hot by the stove. My son found a local store with online ordering for Asian food ingredients to satisfy his cravings for Thai food. So we have stocked up on his favourites. I think I may have over ordered some sweet treats to qualify for free delivery. Hmmm
The downside to a little bit of rain today is the humidity rising.
Have a wonderful week, wherever you are. Fiatlux 🙏🏼
