I have had an ongoing fascination with analysing personality, and what makes myself and others tick, and have found the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to be a surprisingly accurate measure of such things. I have catalogued the types of many of the people in my life, and probably driven them nuts with my project. It's an interesting study, though, observing consistent traits among the types, how they relate to life skills, coping strategies, how they function in different settings and why.
If you know your type, feel free to share, and things you may have discovered about yourself or that have helped you relate to others using resources about it. If you don't know your type, and want to, I found the site 16 Personalities pretty good for testing and dissecting the types.
If it's of any interest, I am an INTP, and the information about my type on that site is pretty spot-on. I've only used that as a starting point for my research. There is so much information out there on the types, and the differences between them that actually goes a long way to breaking down the core of otherwise confusing conflicts, or getting the most out of a person at work or in a friendship, etc.
Anyway, it's a bit of a project of mine, and I wanted to open it up to anyone who wants to contribute.

Hey Bluguru, thankyou for the personality reminder....:-) I have never kidded around with the 'Bluguru' tag either by the way...I know when wisdom is staring me in the face....and you dont seem to have an issue or a shortage of it either 'snot monster'
Simpsons FOX8 this morning;
Bart was dreaming of the biblical times and he was King David...and was kicked out of his kingdom by Goliath (Nelson)
Little Ralph played the shepherd with his sheep and said to Bart " You are King David...I Love you...because you kill people"
As Marje would say "Oh My Lord"

Paul, I was always fond of your nickname for me. I see your sincerity as well as your humour in handing out nicknames. 🙂
Ah, Ralph. I am now seeing him playing "duck, duck, goose" at Bart's party, running around the circle going "duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck..."

OK, that clears things up! Yes, I find that I like to be alone, especially when I am feeling a bit tired, I need the peace and quiet.
I think one of the best things in the world, is sitting by a fire with a good book in your hands when it's raining outside.....just awesome.

Glad I could help. Being an introvert myself, I rather like the thought of reading by the fire with rain falling outside. Thanks for the pleasant mental image. 🙂

Thanks Blue for the suggestion you gave James earlier about looking up the type vs type.
I just looked up ENFP vs INFP and now have a much better understanding. I definitely fit in ENFP.
I too love the image of reading by the fire with the rain falling outside. Sounds perfect but I would also be looking forward to the bookclub I created so I can share my thoughts and creative ideas with everyone and feed off their energy haha.
It's very interesting. The more I have read the more amazed I am by how well the descriptions fit who I am.
Great thread Bluguru

Hi everyone, I am a INTJ.
I tend to over analyse everything and try and find hidden meaning in what people say, what people do, how people act, how they dress, pretty much everything in general. Through discipline I am hoping one day I can master this some what of a gift and use it in a way to help people.
My passion in life is to help people. One day I would like to be a psychiatrist.
I prefer not to chit chat and getting straight to the point, however through experience, I have found I am required too.
I love analysing and going into deep talks with anyone. Some times, people cannot follow my thoughts and they say I am weird, but I wish they would look a little deeper into the water, instead just eyeing at the shallow waters. People say INTJs don't have feelings or that we can be cold. Truth be told, we only share with a few people in our lives, because we believe those people can enrich our lives. Being so selective has it's positive and negatives. At the moment there are more negatives than positives, however dwelling on it will not make the situation better.
I love this world for all its perfection and imperfection. It is true that the moment I talk to you, my brain is already analysing you. Don't be offended, we INTJs just want to know everything. One of the negatives of this personality is how much pain we can feel in comparison to others. Not diminishing any other personalities, but us INTJs are our most vulnerable when we open our hearts. We don't let a lot of people in, but the ones we do will not always love us back. This is life at it's core. We walk on this earth to find people who we can truly connect with in an emotional, intellectual and physical sense. Maybe my expectations are too high, but there's one thing you can count on INTJs are, if you are selected, we will not give up on you, ever. Unless you break our hearts or any other situation you can think of that is reasonable.
Kind regards,
H&L

INTP, logical to a fault huh? Ha. Well fair enough.
Honestly, whilst I think this sort of thing is pretty cool, I remain somewhat skeptical of it. Feels akin to horoscopes, albeit more streamlined. I like to think our brains are reasonably plastic and adaptable, so whilst it may be predominantly true that I am an INTP. Perhaps I could say that earlier in life I was more of a different personality type like INTJ or ENTP. Or even that I'm a type INTP personality on good, or perhaps in this case, bad days.
But, perhaps I'm just critical because of my personality. But I find it funny I'm both reflective and future oriented, reserved but adventurous and logical yet spontaneous.
Not to say that these are mutually exclusive things, rather, it goes back to my point about it being like horoscope personality types, in being somewhat broad in their definition, so that anyone can fit under certain categories.
Yep. Logical to a fault.
