Favourite Bands/Singers

Hi guys,

I was inspired by Neil's thread about favourite movies.  I want to know - what are some of your favourite bands/musicians?

Do you have an album that you listen to over and over?  Is there a songwriter who you connect with, that seem like they draw their lyrics directly from your soul?  What is your favourite style of music?  Who did you grow up listening to?

Are you a musician yourself?

And importantly, I'm always looking to discover another band or genre so if you have any suggestions of a great song let me know so that I can look it up 🙂

As for me, I don't really like most of the stuff that gets played on the radio.  The lyrics seem meaningless to me, and the songs are mostly produced just to make money - not to connect with an audience or tell a story.  I prefer songs and artists that are sincere and genuine, that confront important and real life topics or are emotionally touching.  that doesn't mean I live for slow ballads... no, I listen to all kinds of music, fast paced - slow and rhythmic, rap, hip hop, jazz, folk, rock, alternative, metal.... I love it so long as it has some depth.

I'm currently hooked on a band called Twenty One Pilots.  I love em!  Also, I recently discovered a genre called Nerdcore which is rapping about nerdy stuff like computer games and everyday events etc... I love rap but I don't love a lot of the language or topics that are usually rapped about, so chilling out to some lighthearted Nerdcore works for me 🙂

I've never really liked a "band"as a whole. I like lots of different music. However, since the emergence of Twenty One Pilots, I have finally found a "band"(albeit a 2 piece) that I just love to listen to, no matter the song, old or new. I'm not sure what it is about them, the sound, the words, or even just their personalities and showmanship. Anyway, that's my 5 c 😉

I find her so inspirational. So many songs relate to me. And her voice, it is just perfection

Personally I love Dragonforce- particularly their songs 'Fury of the storm' and 'Through the fire and the flames'

I know a lot of people won't like them, but that's the kind of music I listen to 🙂

Hey Night,

I just looked up DragonForce on YouTube because I hadn't actually heard of this band. Unfortunately, heavy metal isn't music I am good at appreciating. I like alternative music (though more 'mainstream' probably) and some rock. My favourite bands are probably Bastille and Mumford and Sons. I like Kygo's music too and compositions by Hans Zimmer (he does major movie soundtracks). I must admit that I have limited music knowledge and understanding. I also don't play any musical instruments, and I cannot sing properly 😛

I know Dragonforce is a bit fast for most people's liking. Certainly not the kind of thing you'd hear on a radio. I haven't had a chance to check out the artists you mentioned, though I will if I get an opportunity. I also can't play any instruments, and I lack the self confidence to try singing.

I Love ALL My Old AC/DC Songs when Bon Scott was singing with them. He brought out pure emotions I'd never heard before and with Angus on Leads they were Mates for Life.

I Love mostly Australian Rock'n'Roll, like The Angels, Rose Tattoo, Midnight Oil, Australian Crawl, Black Label, They've all got a sound of their own....

Hey All...

This is my first post, I love my music i grew with all sorts of music mum always had the records playing. My fav band is AC/DC im a rock chick and have been very lucky to have seen them live twice. I used to play the clairnet in the high school concert band and then started to learn the Piano. I think music makes the soul feel better in a way that is just my opinion.

Other Bands Dont mind U2 or Bon Jovi, i love oldies like the Beatles and Elvis.

Hi Diana, Yes it's hard to go past ACDC I am a rock guy from way back too I am listening to a melborne girl at the moment Tash Sultana if you haven't heard of her she is like a female hendricks only she play's about 10 more instruments check her out on youtube she is unbelievable and my fave at the moment enjoy,Ross
