Dear meowing...ow...ow'ing mmMekitty, Moon, Paw Prints and All~

I was ill for a week (nothing that serious) and as a result was silent, in fact not doing much of anything, but now I'm back to see what all you scamps have been doing.

I spent a a bit of time watching movies and listening to music. I went though the Bob Dylan album, actually if I have not known who he was I'd not have known. Did not seem like the same person (or background style) as what I'd thought of as typical such as 'All along the watchtower'. Maybe his agent told him it would be a nice little earner:)

So what have you all been up to?

Hello Croix,

Glad to hear you are feeling better... we can't have our favourite walrus down on his flippers

Dylan has gone through a few different styles over his career... now you have me curious as to which album it was you were listening too...

You must be surprised to come back & find your iceberg all as you left it... I think the inebriated kiwis are off in the land of the long white cloud visiting family... I do know a certain puddy cat has been very busy measuring up penguins for their christmas outfits & so hasn't had much time to make mischief here... though I'm sure she is plotting something with her pesky penguins... rumours are the Grandy Deebi band may have added her to their christmas spectacular

Did I wake you, Croix? I only mean to do that when our band, 'Waking the Walrus' gets together for a jam session or a gig, like our more than spectacular 'Spectacular Silly Season Swaaray'. Indeed, the Pesky Penguinss are well into their rehearsals, while the other penguins I have persuaded, uh, should that be 'conned' into being very Festive Penguins, lending themselves towards spreading good cheer throughout the sad old world. Gladly, knowing the cause, they are all now happy volunteers.

Don't fret, I've been in discussion with the designer about your Festive Penguin which isn't too many more sleeps away now.

Meanwhile, I'm getting serious with my eating & exercise. I have put in an application to have my NDIS plan amended & am waiting for another report for them. Regardless, I will get an exercise machine, I am sure that will help a lot.

I've got a Xmas party mid-December to look forward to. Hope I won't be tempted to eat more than a little of the sweet &/or salty Xmas food & also hope to win a raffle. My support worker can come with me. She'll be driving, though, so she'll be taking me! I'm more relaxed with someone.

I don't look forward to my PDr's long break, again, as per usual each year. Every year I dread the silly season, even knowing I'll get through okay. I hate that support workers & my PDr & the couple organisations I am a member of (though don't visit often), go on holiday. I feel abandoned & at sea during these weeks.

It's been too difficult for me to deal with the more serious & severe things people are having to face, so, regrettably, I'm not around the place much at all beyond the BB Social Zone & just a few others & my own. I'm get overwhelmed with emotion & not coping well with that.

Was it the Bob Dylan's Christmas Album you were listening to? I don't usually listen to Bob Dylan singing his own songs. I like 'Hurricane'. I listen more when someone else, like Joan Baez sang his songs on a double album of Dylan's song. Sometimes others by chance. Someone I knew recommended his Christmas Album to me, because I like things different & unexpected. I thought it was funny a few times. After that, I just didn't like it. I don't think his voice has improved with age. Rather than mellowing, I think his voice sounds rougher now.

Hi Paws & Woofa! [LRC nosebops Paws & Woofa]

& hello to everyone else who is reading. [grinning LRC]

Hugzies, to all who want some.

Dear All~

Paws it was "Christmas in the Heart" full of all the traditional songs sung by Bob Dylan - the album cover has a round window looking at a pair of horses pulling a sledge. It started off with the sounds of jingle-bells jingling, which was not a good start:(

MK, yes you did wake me (which I'm sure was no accident). Well at least I now know waht I want for Christmas -a pair of industrial strenght earplugs, the ones rated to make even a boiler-factory into a Marcel Marceau type silence.

I finally found all those inebriated kiwis, far from gong to visit rellies the had found all the grapes people had been giving me to get well and were clustered around a hole in the ice behind the igloo making ice wine. I think they are evolving into antarctic inebriated kiwis, their feathers look thicker and fluffier.

This place is full of people that are in need and having a very bad time, and it can be overwhelming. It sounds as if you have let the balance tip that way due to a feeling you need to do your part or have empahty with  them. In fact it is precisely the lighthearted threads and posts that helps everyone, and concentrating on them is just fine. Also by contributing to them you give others a much needed smile.

The one exception of course is penguins -argh!

I hardly need to say you have coped with the Christmas break in the past and will do so again in the next few weeks. Remember we are always here to give you a hard time, especially whilst you are overindulging in the sweet &/or salty Xmas food

Moon, can I ask how oyu are getting on?

Grandy and DB - are you two mischief makers around?

Yeah, I thought your alarm clock had frozen, being so far south, & the weather still being cold. Maybe put a sign on yourself, like Granny Weatherwax, (Terry Pratchett, Discworld series), to let us know when you are only sleeping (like John & Yoko)

Ah, so that's what that album was called! I'd forgotten the name, so thanks Croix, for mentioning it here, in case anyone really is interested.

Thanks, too, Croix, I sincerely expect you to raise a flipper or two if you catch me reaching for any of that sugary/salty/fatty 'food'. I'm trying very hard, but it is like there is an unspoken peer pressure around you if everyone else is being 'jolly' & indulging in 'food' some generous volunteers & staff at the organisation's Xmas function, which hasn't been held the last two times. & when they say, "Go on, just one" ... & a bit of this & that, all adds up.

I'm not so different from every other person out there who wants to just let loose after these last almost 3 years with the spectre of COVID affecting our behaviour.

Because of my inability to wear a mask, to ensure personal distances, I've been restricting my own movements, not going out, especially to very crowded places, not on my own, either. It did get to me, being alone so much. That's why I came here, in september 2021, when my PDr was going on his break, & I was feeling isolated then.

I couldn't keep up the tight restrictions, so I have been going out, to large shopping centres, too, even though that still makes me nervous.

I want to do more, especially getting out for exercis, maybe the community garden, maybe a community choir, (looking into that possibility too).

I've been doing too little for too long.

I miss you when you are away, too - but I feel sure you will look after yourself, or Mrs C would get onto you about it, in a gently caring way, I'm sure.

How did you manage to temporarily change your profile picture? I've been trying, with no success.

Hugzies,

Dear mmMekitty, with a wave to all~

I'm not so sure about the comparison with Ms Weatherwax, I believe Arnie would  be much more satisfactory.

You will certainly have the image in your mind's eye of me raising both flippers (a bit like Edvard Munche's 'The Scream') if you overindulge in Xmas provider. A sort of walrussy 'Xmas Future' (with apologies to Charlie D) looking over your shoulder. Maybe you need to take a 'kitty bag' with you for later.

It sounds like you are dong the sensible thing wiht your shoulder, I'm not a big believer in 'no pain no gain' but gently pushing boundaries is spot on.

Being in a choir used to be one of my favorites when I was young (yes even in caves they had choirs). I had the fortune to be taught properly, breathing, speech compensation, technique, emphasis etc. All gone now of course, no breath for singing 😞

I hope your excursions continue to expand.

I just used hte top of my profile page and used hte "Edit Profile" image button. you then have to put your username and password in again before you can "Select new profile image" button and choose a pic to upload from your computer. If it successful uploads you are offered the chance to resize/clip it, if you are not offered that facility it has not uploaded correctly so you try again. When you  accept edits it goes to moderation, which may take some time. Small pics are easier to upload and resize.

If it does not seem to work within 24 hrs ask the Mods. Hope that helps

Thank you kindly, Walrus, I have done all you said to get my profile picture to change, a few times now. I have contacted Modsupport  as well. Still my original picture remains. I can assure everyone I didn't use any Superglue on it, either.

Just as well I like my picture of Mekitty. It would be nice or fun to change it occasionally, like if I should decide to 'go fishing', I have just the pic for that! Seems I' won't be able to put up an Xmas pic this year... [pouting LRC]

Caves have excellent acoustic qualities for choral singing, with bats for ultrasonic accompaniment.

I've mentioned, I used to sing more & better. I'm beginning to simply enjoy singing even though I am not able to sing like I once did. I mean, it still can annoy me, but not upset me like earlier. So, I think I'm getting to the point where I con't care so much if I can't sing well. I still sing here, in my flat, bits & pieces, (because I forget a lot or get distracted), & now, I've been singing along to the songs on my support worker's car radio. Songs of the 70/80s. I have to sing lower, now, but trying to fit my voice in somehow is challenging enough to enjoy.

We get a laugh out of some of the songs as well.

With my shoulder, it's not no pain, but just what I tolerate, without it being intense. I stretch my arms out, back or up or to move them like making snow angels, & feel if it hurts just a bit, maybe stretch a tad more, but not to any ouchy extent. That's what I understood from the physio at the hospital.

I don't want to reduce my weights from 2kg each dumbbell, back to1kg each, as the private physio had said, because that very often feels like I'm not making a real effort.

Leg's getting restless, sore to, so must say goodnight,

Sleep well,

mmMekitty

Um, the only other two alternatives I can think of is maybe your pic you are uploading is to large, mine are 160 pixels square (7.6KB), which is pretty small.

The other thing is maybe it is only the moderators during business hours that can process avatars.

Otherwise I'm as stumped as you.

Have a comforting penguin 🐧to take your mind of this misfortune

Hi Croix, & all & sundry - though i don't think of anyone as 'sundry'.

My profile picture of Meekitty is 312 pixels square, & the picture I had up for Xmas 2021 is more than 10 times that size.

I've been assured my problem is being investigated. For now, I guess I simply have to leve it alone, & wait to see if the problem gets resolved. Kind of like the character counter being inaccurate, too.

It is disappointing to not get to use a temporary change of picture to show you all, for example, Bronion's flower. I thought I would likt to put my Xmas picture up again this year. I still like it, but wonder how the heck I made it - realising how much more of my sight is gone. I could not make a picture like that this year, not anymore. I'm really glad I took the time & effort last year, to make that picture, & the other occasional pics I've made. I'm gald I have one already made if I ever am 'gone fishing' for a week or two. It's so cute!

Thanks for the Comfort Penguin. I had bought one once, & somehow dropped it before I got on the bus. I went back to look for it, & it was gone. It was a very cushiony Comfort Penguin for sure. So I really appreciate another from you.

Hugzies
