Best place in Australia!

Good evening

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the best places to work and raise a family in Australia?

By best, I'm referring to localities that provide a good framework for staying well, healthy, as well as ability to source good employment and opportunities for a family.

Cheers 🙂

hi 150Lashes, well I moved out of Melbourne to the country and would never live back there, because now I can go to an appointment within 10 minutes, go shopping and do whatever I want to do in such a little time, no parking hassles, no long queues with all the facilities available, renting or buying is cheaper and easy access to transport. Hi 150

I have to echo Geoffs advice here. Country is the way to go. I am near Melbourne but its way too frantic for me nowadays. Real Estate is great value for money too. Cleaner air....where do I stop? I will be re-locating in the near future to improve my health.

Cheers

I have to agree, we moved from inner city Melb to Geelong just 3 months ago! We are loving it. So much more relaxing, but it still has all the cafes and shops. My parents in law are from much more country, further out, and they find Geelong busy haha!

Hey 150/PVroom

I wish I was in Geelong!...I have a beautiful home in the Southern Subs of Melb and the freeways..Monash etc are getting more congested everyday. I built here 25 years ago when I was 30 and its way too frantic now. I have been having a look at Beech Forest. I was a kid living in Horsham and I do miss the country.

Time to have a 'huddle' with my Chow Chow Shepard Cross and look at quality of life now:-)

Hey 150! What are your thoughts?

Hey thanks all for your responses!

I'm in Sydney so looking for something more relaxed but good employment opportunities and schools for the kids.

Just not sure what work we would find in the country?

What's Canberra like? Anyone know.

I do like the sea/Coast but again not sure about opportunities

Thanks 🙂

Hey 150!

People sandbag the ACT because its 'boring'. I have been through Canberra a few times on business and its like a huge country (regional) city. The housing is more than affordable and the community is a caring one. There is a sense of peace/tranquility about it. There is no 'rush hour' like Sydney/Melb...It is a beautiful and peaceful place to live with much better job prospects than a country town.

And the lowest crime rate in Australia 🙂 A truly peaceful and modern small city without the 'stress' and 'urgency' of Melbourne or Sydney.

And 150...the coast is not that very far away for holidays with the family either!

A very clean and peaceful small city with great people....Family orientated...Just my humble opinion 150...It would be my second choice at 8/10...

Hope this helps...

Paul

Thanks Paul

Appreciate the run down.

I may look further into it. I'm sure the housing prices can't be as ridiculous as here!

It's interesting isn't it?!.. I wouldn't have even been contemplating moving if I hadn't become Unwell. How things change.. One thing leads to another and so forth.

Thanks again 🙂

No worries 150....I wish..should have etc made the move years ago. I still have people there I know and they love it...I find it interesting that the radio guys really trash Canberra..But in reality its a gorgeous place to live..Now that you have reminded me of the ACT I do miss the relaxed pace of the people and their community 🙂

I am not very well....the days of me bolting around Melbourne (or Sydney for that matter) have gone..I will care for myself and my daughter now and I dont think corporate Australia will even bat an eyelid when we re-locate.

Productive thread topic 150.....and thankyou for the reminder I need to ensure myself a better quality of life!

Paul 🙂

Hey Paul

I think it's great to acknowledge that's it's time to look after yourself and your daughter, and to make decisions which will facilitate that.

For me thus whole thing has been an eye opener, where I am now more aware that lifestyle can and does certainly impact on health and well-being.

I had two job offers last week (head hunted) and declined both. One would have been a toxic environment and the other involved too much travel with young kids. The old me would have jumped at these opportunities. Now I'm really thinking about what's suitable and what's not.

I do feel that relocating mah provide a better overall lifestyle for my family. It's also an opportunity to start fresh which I'm drawn to as well.

Take care Paul and I hope you're feeling better today too 🙂
