As a result, we created this thread to allow people to come together here during those difficult times and encouraged those wanting to share or seek support to do so here in this space.
It was important with this thread that we maintained perspective and supported each other as best as we could, medical, scientific and public health experts around the world have and still are working hard to contain the virus and treat those affected.
The Beyond Blue Support Service is available via phone 24/7 on 1300 22 4636 or via beyondblue.org.au/get-support for online chat.
There are some other helpful discussions taking place here within our forum community that you may find helpful to read or participate in: https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/staying-well/hi-there-i-only-just-joined-and...
This thread is now closed for further posting. Users are still able to read through and find support through already existing posts.

Hi just my attempt at bringing some lightness (good for the soul sometimes)
I really quite like playing that card game snap.
Sleepy and just- want- to-sleep
I mean no disrespect... But that is what I just saw when I read your names. Thanks a bunch for helping me to see the lighter side of life. By your names.
Smiling on the inside.

Hello everyone,
I pop in and read from time to time but dont post a lot here.
I can hear people's frustration and concerns. I think it is fortunate we have this and other forums where we can share ideas on how to cope and to give and gain support from others.
Everyone has a different story.
Shell, I think playing with names and word association is good way of distracting our minds for a moment.
I wonder if anyone cares to share one small thing you do or can do that helps you see the lighter side of life.
We all know people are struggling and serious but sometimes for me singing songs I remember helps me a little.

Thank you for your kind words 😊.
The past couple of years have not been great at work, I am so exhausted. On top of covid, I have been battling my personal issues; depression and anxiety and learning there is way more to my mental health than I thought.
In all honesty, I've had enough. My stress relief/coping methods are not great. Sleeping, drinking, lots of crying and isolating myself when I'm not at work. I do see a psychologist but I'm drowning...

Thanks for checking in, I appreciate it 😊.
The new variant hasn't impacted us as yet. We just have to carry on with what we've been doing. I'm on reception and some days I want to destroy the phones.
Everytime the media or government announce anything, we get an influx of calls. We're expected to know the answer to everything when in reality, we're just learning as we go.
Honestly, I've had it. I've been abused as recent as yesterday. I get through the week and crash by the weekend.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for making this such a supportive thread, helping one another through sharing and connecting and showing support. We really appreciate the openness and kindness community members have shown here.
We would like to bring this thread back to its purpose of sharing ways of coping, and what we’re doing to look after our wellbeing during this time. For this reason, we will no longer be able to publish posts discussing medical advice, decisions on vaccination, or mention of specific medications (such as vaccines), as these are off topic for the forums. We want to encourage discussions around individual health and wellbeing, rather than the public health response.
We understand that there is an intense media focus on the pandemic, some of which is challenging to engage with every day. However, to allow more space for individuals to express their experience, we’ll no longer be able to publish discussions around the portrayal in the media. Similarly, this forum is an apolitical place to share our mental health journey and will be moderated accordingly.
We really appreciate everyone’s understanding and efforts in making this space safe and welcoming. Thank you for making this thread such a great space to connect.
Kind regards,
Sophie M
