My heart goes out to you.... that is amazing that you are a casual tutor at the university...it would be an interesting and inspiring job. I've had some great tutors and they guided me along so well... i know what you mean about coping day to day, but feeling scared about the future. I feel like there is no future. I'm living like this is normal life now, it's too much for me to fathom life after this. If you've just begun your career in academia i can understand it would feel a bit uncertain now, you would want to spend more time at the university laying down rots for your career. I hope universities will be able to keep functioning in some way, and that you'll get something out of the online tutorials! i'm sure your students are glad to have you!!

Just wanted to check in and ask how you're feeling today?. It sounds like things have been pretty stressful for you recently and we can sympathise with the frustration of having noisy neighbors. We also want to let you know that we are checking in with you via email. Let us know how you are going when you feel up to it.

Hi everyone,
When I joined this forum, I was crying and feeling so sad. After spending some time reading what people have to say, I feel much less anxious, and happier to keep on going.
We, as Australians, are so lucky. Our country, and the people in it, are doing an amazing job, working our way through the difficulties of this pandemic. It heartens me to read so many positive responses to help anyone feeling down. I have suffered depression for many years, and have felt the pull of it in the last few weeks. I came here to try some self help. I find myself feeling more in control, more calm, more able to cope, and even though I am in the same boat as many of you, I am trying hard to maintain the strength to get through.
I am going to listen to the voice in my head that says...we will get through this, my loved ones will still be there, my grandkids will not have forgotten me, I will be able to buy lifes necessities, and most of all, I will get to the other side of this relatively unscarred. Positive thoughts breed positive outcomes. Thank you to all the people out their who are trying to be positive, and are most certainly helping others. I say trying, because that is all we can do, try. I will do my best to brush aside negative thoughts and stay upbeat. My kids and grandkids need that from me. How can they keep going if they catch me crying? We are all much tougher than we think.
Good luck and best wishes to you all.

Hi suzinshooz,
Thanks for sharing, your post was so lovely to read.
I absolutely agree with you, we're all so lucky to be in the country we're in. This forum is also the ultimate place for 'self-help, reading everyone's posts are like a ray of light.
We're also lucky that we're able to go one bike rides, as other countries as Italy your not able to do exercise. In saying that, I'm off for a bike ride in this marvelous sunshine.
Regards,
Doran

When all this is over, I'm going on put on a pretty dress, go out with all my friends and all night we'll walk around our city's most beautiful places, count the stars, breathe the fresh air, dance to street music with strangers, hug and high five and shake hands with anyone who wants to, and stay out until the sun rises. And then I hope we'll all snooze together in a park lying on the grass together.
So there, COVID-19. Take that. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

Oh rusty girl I am so sorry to read your post. A lot of people on the forums care, so please believe you are not on your own. I’m sending you a big hug 🤗. I find it hard when I get no response too. Sometimes I post but don’t say much, so no one knows how I feel really, but I’m too tired, stressed etc to say more.
I hope the dreams about your mum bring happy memories rusty girl.
Ive just posted on my thread that ..... “Just now I am SO frustrated and ready to scream, and if only I could cry everything out. I have a problem with rats in the roof and the garage. I’ve got quite a lot of stuff in there and have put down rat poison but I feel sick thinking a rat will die in amongst all my stuff and then I’ll have to look for it. I have no one to ask to throw rat throw packs in the roof and I can’t do it myself. I’m ready to tear my hair out. It’s a x!?&# being older, not having support, coping with so many things. I’m so over it all at the moment 😤😭”
Rusty girl please don’t feel you can’t complain - that’s what the forums are for, and you’ve already had a response from me, and I hope I am right to say others will too. A lot of people are doing other things - sleeping, like you were, reading a book, out in the garden, walking, cooking etc.
Take care, Cala 🤗😂
