We recognise that many of us here in the community are feeling scared, worried and overwhelmed about Coronavirus (COVID19).

As a result, we created this thread to allow people to come together here during those difficult times and encouraged those wanting to share or seek support to do so here in this space.

It was important with this thread that we maintained perspective and supported each other as best as we could, medical, scientific and public health experts around the world have and still are working hard to contain the virus and treat those affected.

The Beyond Blue Support Service is available via phone 24/7 on 1300 22 4636 or via beyondblue.org.au/get-support for online chat.

There are some other helpful discussions taking place here within our forum community that you may find helpful to read or participate in: https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/staying-well/hi-there-i-only-just-joined-and...

This thread is now closed for further posting. Users are still able to read through and find support through already existing posts.

welcome . Sorry you are anxious. There is so much misinformation and confusing information.
My child is in his early 30s has had AZ and is fine .. He told me after he had it and I was proud he was responsible.
We are listening to you. Post as much as you like.

Must admit , l feel very weird about getting the vax too even being a 6ft male.

l'm not sure why exactly but the whole idea just makes me nervous for some weird reason. l'm not normally very big on vaccinations of any kind actually but admittedly something just feels weird about these.

hi rx, i know what you mean. these times are all so weird.

i feel like my health is alrady so vulnerable and its not been at the top of my list, because it has been difficlt to geet the vax. i was told recently that now that i am supported with continued care for my mental health, i am eligible to get the pzifer, i did not know that. so i'm thinking about getting it soon but havent started the process yet.

I wasn't going to fight for it and ring around and find loopholes to get vaccinated, as that was too much stress on my MH, but if i can get it easily that's a different story.

Thank you for all your supportive comments. ‘Rotating thoughts in our head on repeat are exhausting.’ This is something if positive I’d be a gold medalist in. They are so much ‘louder’ in the dark of night. I have removed our bedroom alarm clock the other week so I don’t see the minutes tick over and over while I can’t sleep. Glad I did that before I heard my son’s vaccine news.
I did some baking today, something I’ve always enjoyed. I just don’t get how it’s possible to go from enjoyment ( from the baking) to those stress thoughts again. It’s actually positive to find I’m not alone in my anxieties. Hope you are all looking after yourselves too.

My 30 yr old daughter had AZ in the UK along with most of her friends and colleagues with no issues other than a sore arm for a day. The rest of my children have all had physer with no issues. My sister in the US spent most of last year feeling very anxious and limited what she could do because she was at high risk of covid complications if she caught it. Once she had her 2 doses of physer she felt free tobe able to live again. My hsb & I both got AZ in April and the 2nd shot in late June. Apart from a headache & being tired for a day it was fine and I am now glad we got it as early as we could so we are safe even if there are outbreaks near us.

I've very happily had the Astra Zeneca and feel very relieved to feel safer from the virus now! Can you encourage your son to have a chat with his GP about it? This might help with your anxiety.

hi needleina, thanks for posting, we are here for u

i struggle with those rotating thoughts too, definiately a gold medalist.

i hate feeling like i cant control things, and try through my obsessing worrying thoughts to "order" the un-ordable in my mind. It is so tiring for me too. I'm sorry this happens t you and you can't sleep. the hours can feel so long at night, and its hard in winter too. i hope you can feel cosy in other ways. you sound like an awesome baker! thats so cool you can find solace in that. hope ur okay today with all that you're going through.

Thanks for that Elizabeth that's encouraging, l know l have major trust issues in any of the vax available but really , there's no logical reasoning to it. Bc billions of people world wide like your mob are all doing just fine.

Thanks sleepy yeah l know what you mean . l wasn't going to any trouble that's for sure and wasn't even fussed anyway . But my brother got it locally here no problem at all 200mtrs up the road, so l have no excuse tbh. l'm glad you''ll be able to get yours now though , great stuff. Hope your getting through.

This is so boring at my house will this ever end?

Tonight is not the night to read this thread. Running Foot has nowhere to run too. Joined yesterday in the Welcome orientation section. All these posts are excellent. Each individual to their own idea and suggestions/ choices. An area I wish to remain neutral atm. In Vic. 6th lockdown, 18 months of it with regional Victorians can live a relatively good life compared with those Victorians are doing it tough through no fault of their own.
