I finally went to my gp to get help today after another 16hour long attack yesterday that put me in the emergency room. I really need help to try and manage this i tried for a long time to do it by myself but anxiety won that battle and has been winning for a while now i need my life back.

Hello Alfie..

Welcome to the forums..

It was heart warming when you said that you finally went to the Dr..That’s hard to do and you done very well...

Like you I tried for many years to “fix” my anxiety...I failed, I could feel myself getting more and more deeper into that black hole, as my anxiety grew..

I finally went to ty Dr..who done a test then got me onto a mental health Care Plan for anxiety/ Depression and PTSD...It was the best thing I done for myself....

Im sorry you ended up in the emergency room yesterday..Panic attacks are horrible and very frightening..

Alfie, I was in an ambulance on my way to hospital during a panic attack, the paramedic told me that I have to slow my breathing down..deep slow breathes and it will help ease my anxiety while I’m having one and it helps the panic attack to slowly disperse...I done it in the ambulance with their instructions and it did work...

Also if you can try to focus on something any thing in the room your in..could be an ornament..pick it up and study it..ie..is it cold, what’s it made of, is the surface rough or smooth...If you find that you can do this..it helps take your mind off what’s happening to you...

Does anything trigger your anxiety attacks or do they Just happen for no reason at all....that your aware of?..

I really hope that now you’ve taken that huge first step to talking with you Dr that things will change and be much better for you..

Please Alfie..Talk here anytime you feel up to it...We are here for you and hopefully we can help you by talking you through your new journey towards wellness...

Please if possible and you feel up to it...keep us informed on how your doing...

Kind thoughts, with care..

Grandy..

Thankyou for your kind words sometimes my anxiety is triggered by things like a change of daily routine out side of my control this is the most common for me but the worst days are the ones when i wake up with it or sometimes it wakes me up i go from being asleep to full on wide awake and with huge hits of adrenaline for no reason this is when i know im in for a all day attack that is what happened yesterday but it was the worst by far. I have another appointment with my doctor next thursday to work out what happens from here on. But after talking to him today i already felt better best i have for a while other than the huge come down i felt like i was having from yesterdays attack but i managed to get in a midday nap and had my appetite back so that was good.

I joined just now when I read you wake up with anxiety and adrenaline. What a relief to know someone else gets this. It's like I'm about to sit a huge exam or go to the electric chair. It's the pits to wake up this way.
It was worst with me when I wasn't working and had no vision of my future.
People who haven't experienced it just don't get how awful it is. I'm glad you posted your story.
Try to stay in the moment and breathe!
And thank you for sharing.
