I'm struggling to with my anxiety levels at the moment, I just want to crawl into bed and stay there. I am particularly having trouble with personal space, I don't even want my nieces hugging name. I adore my nieces and nephews, but even the idea of them hugging me is making my skin crawl. Does anyone have any tips on how to face this?

Hi Sleepless1987,

Sorry you are feeling this way it must feel overwhelming..

I understand anxiety can make us feel on edge... I had severe anxiety OCD....

Have you been able to talk about your anxiety with a health professional?

here to chat

I've seen my GP, I have a referral for a psychologist, just need an appointment. There is a bit of a wait.

That’s great you have seen your gp and have an appointment with a psychologist ........ sorry you have to wait.....

have you tried meditation to help with your anxiety?

exercise is also great.....

mindfullness and attention training is also wonderful..... eg when outside feel the sun on your skin, the wind blowing on you , what can you hear?

Keep talking.....

your not alone and things will get better.... hang in there....

here to chat to you

Hi Sleepless1987,

Thank you for being so brave and sharing something so personal with us.

If you have a long wait till your appointment give the Beyond Blue line a call for a chat (1300 22 4636). A chat can honestly make you feel lighter afterwards.

Also in the meantime get yourself a massage or your nails done, that could help take your mind off things in the meantime.

Let us know your thoughts.

Regards,

CC

Hi sleepless,

Good move seeking help - here, with your GP, psychologist.

how long have you felt like this? Are there other things that give you these anxious feelings?

I've been so busy with work and my local theatre, which I love, also I have been organising a festival for our drama festival. I spent the day yesterday with my family, and today I am completely exhausted, I could hardly get out of bed. Still waiting for an appointment to talk with me he psychologist. I am just tired.

Hi Sleepless1987,

I have the same kind of anxiety with personal space and touch. A simple hug can spiral into lots of negative thoughts one after another. My main issue is contamination fear. My condition seems to be irreversible.
