Too anxious and scared

Good afternoon, February last year my mother passed away. Since then my quality of life has gone downhill. I am struggling to live a normal life, struggling to hold down a job and have taken so much time off I'm too scared to speak to my boss in case I lose my job. I often get really emotional and sad at the most random times. It also doesn't help that I found her dead in my own home. What should I do? How do I recover from this trauma as I can't live like this any further.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. Thank you for sharing this problem of yours, I really know how it felt of losing a family member because It has done on me as well. What I can only give you advice is that you need to focus on what you are facing right now. Don't overthink your dark-past too much, have you go to a doctor already? If, yes then it is a good decision because they're the only ones who can answer your questions and If you haven't done going then I recommend you to. I hope this helps

Hi DannyG05,

Welcome to the forums, I am really glad you have felt able to reach out. I am so sorry to hear about your loss, I cannot imagine how traumatic it would be to lose a loved one in your own home. It sounds like the pain of this loss is really affecting you. If you are feeling up to it, and are open to it, I would really encourage you to talk to one of the counsellors on the Griefline phoneline 1300 845 745 (available 6am to midnight), they also have some resources on their webpage that you may find useful as well. Please know that you are not alone in what you are experiencing, many people struggle with grief - there is no fixed time or pattern and it can be so draining and painful. It is more than okay to need additional help to get you through and help you cope, whether this is speaking to your GP, getting a mental health care plan, seeing a grief counsellor and/or calling one of the helplines - whatever you feel may be helpful for you. Is there any one that you are close to that you feel able to talk to about what you have been feeling and going through?

Please do not hesitate to talk more if and when you are feeling up to it about how you are going and what you are feeling - we are here to listen and support you. Take care DannyG05.

Hi DannyG05,

So sorry for your loss DannyG05....

You can learn to recover from what you are going through.. things will get better... have you seeked professional help? If you haven’t I strongly encourage you do.... start at your gp..... tell them how you are feeling..... maybe book a double appointment so you can put a mental health plan together with your gp... this will give you 10 free sessions with a phycologist who can give you many strategies......

our health professionals are amazing people I wouldn’t be where I am today without their help.....

im here if you want to chat... all the best
