Hi Taylor,
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us and welcome to the community here at Beyond Blue.
I am wondering how often you use alcohol to help you through the tough periods in your life? Alcohol does dull the senses and helps a person to feel better for a while, but then there can be consequences to those actions.
If you don't mind me asking you questions, have you been to a Dr about how you are feeling regarding your anxiety and also your drinking?
Here at Beyond Blue you can use the phone help line on 1300 22 4636. The people on the help line will be able to listen to you and help you find the support you need.
I would like to suggest you see a Dr if you aren't doing so already, phone some of the help lines that are available, read some information on anxiety and maybe even see if there is an AA service in your region to help with the drinking.
Hope some of this helps, from Mrs. Dools

Apparently hangover anxiety is common. Of course the ideal situation is not to drink too much, but you can also get tipsy with working out your own limits. I over do it sometimes and have read up on hangover anxiety. I always regret it because it makes my anxiety worse and getting through harder.
Lots of water, rescue remedy, panadol and getting up and getting on with it are my cures, by lunchtime Im feeling heaps better.
It is said that guilt over what you did the night before, such as did I make a fool of myself etc aggravates the anxiety. Write it out and move on.
Hope this helps
hugs
Tracy

Hi Taylor
I know exactly what you are going through - I suffer from anxiety and depression as a result - this is my second day of guilt and self loathing of what I did in my drunken episode on my 42nd bday only two nights ago. The truth was I don't think I had all that much to drink (but it is definitely the only time I've had an episode), but I blacked out but was still awake and during this time I verbally attacked my sister, drove my car into a ditch and woke up being pulled out of my car by my cousins. I'm currently in a state of guilt, embarrassment, self loathing and regret - it's a terrible place to be when everyone else can forgive you but you can't forgive yourself.
I'm going to be seeking my nearest AA for support - even though I'm not an alcoholic, I obviously have problems with it.
I just wanted to say you are not alone and it makes me feel a tiny bit better to know there is someone out there who also suffers from 'hangover anxiety' if that's what they call it.
