Hi everyone,
For the last month I have been suffering from panic attacks (maybe anxiety). It is all very new to me and troubling. I have tried breathing techniques ‘smiling minds’ and Dr prescription medication, which is helping.
Next step was a psychologist but none are available right now. So I tried a self help group in my area. It was a very rewarding time and would recommend it.
My question, is a self help group a good substitute for a psychologist?

Hi Chris.
I'm glad to hear you have stuff that's working for you, good job and I'm proud of you. I wish I had a support group near me. Headspace was the only one and I had a traumatic experience.
Good to see you're seeking some support and finding it beneficial.

Hi everyone, quick update.
I feel back to my old self again, (enjoying life). This forum was a life saver when I had no one to turn to.
My Self help group, went 3 times. Loved it but after 3 times I had nothing left to talk about. Told all my darkest secrets and felt guilty not sharing after that.
meditation / professionals supported me but did could not solve my problem. It was not till I was ready to get better that I recovered. Weird but I look back at my depressed times with good memories.

hey Chris
i once heard that ppl followed up with those who had ended therapy - after a few sessions or a short time
when they were interviewed as to why they ended it it was found out that that's all they needed....
glad you went three times and made the most out of it.
Did it give you any ideas for ur future?
u got this 🙂
