Panic attacks and extreme nausea

Tigerlillys
Community Member

Hi there,

I am wondering if I’m not the only one that experiences extreme nausea when having a panic attack? It gets to the point where I will vomit but still feel sick. My anxiety is also trigged by feeling sick and I have a fear of throwing up so it a horrible time and my attacks last for hours. I also can’t keep medication down to help the attack. I also shaking uncontrollably and non stop throughout the attack.

Does anyone have any advice or tips of how I can manage this?

Thanks!

ps. Sorry I just need to get it out and tell someone but don’t want to bother people

Good Morning Tigerlillys

Firstly welcome and never apologize here for sharing and reaching out for some comfort and support, that is exactly why this forum exists and why we have such an awesome community here, that you are apart of so welcome.

Anxiety is a thing..that is all I can say and it effects us all so very differently and it is horrible and it sucks! Our bodies respond in all sorts of ways to stress, worry and fear, and sometimes it is will being sick, the fact that the being sick part also upsets and causes more anxiety for you is really hard and I am so sorry you are going through this.

So to answer your question...NO..you are not alone and you are one of many many many people, some posting here that have physical responses to anxiety. I am wondering though if it does prevent you from taking your medications though if there might be a need to speak to your GP to let them know you are having trouble taking your meds as this is very important that they know this and can help you through this to ensure you get the medication you need.

I am not sure how you feel about some gentle things that you may be able to do when you can feel an attack coming on, like some nice ginger tea that is soothing and may help with the panic but also settle the tummy, also the tea drinking itself is somewhat calming..I dont want to come off here as "have a cup of tea and calm down" but there is some really lovely things about ginger tea.

I sometimes also do some self talk in that I "give myself permission", to feel and to go through the panic and to say "I am allowed to feel like this and it will pass", even saying it out loud sometimes really helps to put some little bit of control into the situation...I am not sure if this sounds silly too but just sharing some things that help change the direction for me.

I hope to chat some more to you, you are welcome here, we care and I hope that you are feeling some relief from sharing here today.

Hugs
