OK up at 2 am typing this.
I have been waking up middle of the night 3 nights now with numbness all over my body. It takes a few mins for me to walk around and feel normal again.
I have been extremely stressed as my dad passed away last month and feel that I am always anxious and stressed especiay about my health .
Is it normal for your body to be numb all over when sleeping ? Is this caused by anxiety ?

Hello Southern Star and Welcome to The Beyond Blue Community
First if I may offer my sincere condolences for the loss of your dad.
I have had severe anxiety for 25 years and I have never heard of being numb all over....but anxiety can use many types of symptoms to let you know you may be under great stress.
I would be visiting your doc for an opinion. Taking a few minutes to walk around and feel normal again sounds more physiological than psychological.
You are still grieving as your dad passed only a heartbeat ago...GP visit...let him/her help you especially in this sad and difficult time.
Let us know how you go SouthernStar and thankyou for having the courage to post!
Kind Regards
Paul

Dear Southern Star
Hello and welcome. Please accept my condolences on the death of your dad. This is a hard time for you.
Stress can do all sorts of things to our bodies. A friend of mine told me yesterday how her whole body ached with significant pain in recent weeks. Her daughter had been living on the other side of the country but recently returned with her family. The day after she returned my friend woke up completely pain free.
For myself I know stress and worry makes my back and neck ache.
When you say you wake up numb, do you mean if you touch yourself you cannot feel the touch or that it feels as though you cannot move any part of your body? There is a condition where you wake up and feel paralyzed as the result of dreaming. Your body may have woken up but not your brain, as I understand. Almost like a panic attack. Then you can move and get out of bed. It still takes a short while to feel your body moving freely again.
I hope this helps. But it's still worthwhile getting your GP to check it out. It would be good if we could diagnose ailments on this forum, but none of are qualified to do this and I suspect a doctor would not do so either.
Mary
